Question about Uniden Cordless Phone

New Uniden Phones don't ring in!

My new Uniden phones TRU9585 Series place and receive calls but do not ring in. I've tried everything including calling Uniden tech support (less than useless) and they still don't ring.

Check to see if there is a ring volume button on the rear or side of the base of the phone console.
Check the handset and look for volume as a call comes in press the volume up button to see if it increases.

TRU9585. 'fone blinks as if unheard msg, but there aren't any unheard msgs. How to stop blinking.

You have unheard messages on the voicemail service provided by your telephone company. This service records messages when someone calls while you're already on a call. Contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail service.

How do I retrieve my messages when I'm not at my house.

You'll need to download the manual from Uniden for the specifics for your phone, but the general process is the same for all phones with remote capability. You call your phone while you're away, and when your message starts playing you enter a security code. (That's why you need the manual; not all models use the same default code. You can also change the code, and the manual will explain the steps.) Once you've entered your code, other codes allow you to play messages, delete them, and possibly record a new outgoing message.

By the way, answering machines usually have a "toll-saver" ring setting. When you pick this, your phone rings six or seven times before answering if it hasn't taken any messages since you last checked. This gives you time to hang up so you don't run up toll charges only to learn you have no new messages. Many people have mobile phones with unlimited calling plans now, but others might still need to pay extra for long-distance.

Unable to register handset TWX955 Series

I have a TRU9585 Base.

On the BASE press menu/select, scroll down to register handset using the button to the right of the display, and press select. The LED on the base will flash quickly.

Now pick up the TWX955 handset (the one that won't register), and press and hold # until it registers.

Worked for me.

Handset out of range - message

We totally unplugged the phone, made sure the battery was charged and reset the phone as though it was brand new, in other words started from scratch. It seemed to work and the phone is O.K. now

Caller ID doesn't display and phone rings 1 time then stops

The Uniden TRU9XXX series has a high level of handset compatibility between bases. Depending on the handsets you bought to go with your 9480, you may be able to buy another model in the series and use the old handsets with the new model. Alternatively, you could buy another 9480 here (the -2 on the end of your model number just means that it came with an extra handset).

Before you do that, though, it might pay to hook up a regular (corded) caller ID-enabled phone to the line and see what happens there when you call. If it works properly, go buy your new phone. However, if you see the same behavior there as with the Uniden, chances are that the problem is not with the phones. Possible other causes could include a fax machine, modem, or other device in-line with the phone; a defective piece of equipment hooked up elsewhere in your house; etc. If nothing obvious applies, you might want to give the phone company another call--just because they couldn't find a problem on their end doesn't mean one doesn't exist.
