Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

My ps3 wont turn on

When i go to turn on my system it flashes green then straight to amber then constantly flashes red ,any ideas ? thanx Same problem here just happnened. Will not start up and beeps at me. I think I can hear the fan starting up then it dies, but it could also be the hard disk or blu ray drive. Happened just after i put wolverine game in but it had started cutting out the odd time. maybe three or four times before that. I thought it was a dodgy power supply. I think I am out of warranty but cannot find my receipt. ****.

Your console has suffered from a bad case of overheating, and the cell processor's solder joints have cracked and out of place.

A reflow / resolder of the processor is required using a special heat station.

We can do this repair and guarantee it for 6 months.

What's your problem?system turned off green light then amber then flashing red

it's a hardware fault. If it's under guarantee send it back. If not then your fault might be able to be repaired at a cost. The fault is likely to be caused by overheating. turn it off on the back and let it cool. if the fault remains or reoccurs (which it most likely will) then it needs looking at by an electronics guy :O)

My ps3 wont turn on

If the PLAYSTATION 3 feels extremely hot or the system will power off and the power light will flash, this could be an indicator there is a temperature issue with the PLAYSTATION 3 and it is not able to keep the system cool. Please attempt the following troubleshooting steps.
  • Remove any obstructions from the vents.
  • Allow at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides for the PLAYSTATION 3.
  • Remove the PLAYSTATION 3 from any cabinets so it is out in the open.
  • Shut the PLAYSTATION 3 down completely and let it cool down to room temperature, then try running it again.
  • If the fan cannot be heard before the system shut down, the PLAYSTATION 3 may need to be sent in for service.
  • If there is no airflow from any of the vents, the system may need to be sent in for service.

My ps3 wont come on

There may be a problem with your power lead. Check it is correctly plugged in...
Take out the power cord, wait 1 minute. Plug it back in... Wait 5-10 minutes. And try again (make sure that the HDMI/TV Cable is also correctly inserted)
