Hi,
Please try the following
1.START>RUN>REGEDIT press enter and the registry editor will be opened and then the values could be opened by double clicking on each as follows
H_KEY_LOCAL MACHINE>SYSTEM>CURRENT CONTROL SET>CONTROL>CLASS>single click on first entry starting with 4D(it will be 4DE3695 like) and check for any lower or upper filter on the rigt hand side pane and if there please delete them)

2.Go to the device manager and then right click on the exclamation mark entry and uninstall it.
3.Go downwards in the device manager and open the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller and uninstall the values either ATA channel 1 or secondory IDE channel.

4.Restart the system twice and if then also the issue is not resolved then u will have to reinstall the OS.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I have an Asus 3FS, and my Matshita dvd-ram UJ-860S ATA wont read certain dvd's. I've tried deleting lower and upperfilters and have used Microsofts troubleshooting - still wont read some dvd's and have...

Ok try resetting the BIOS to default value by restarting the computer and pressing F2 Key or Delete Key to Enter BIOS setup then select Load Default settings or any option which shows as default settings depending on the BIOS Manufacturer. Now check if it is working, if the issue persists try booting any Operating System Discs like Linux or WIndows to confirm if it is working properly.

ASUS M51SN Matshita BD UJ-120 burner does not work - Windows 7

You need to install windows 7 (32 bit) not 64. To change to 64 you have to make internal changes and updates to your notebook. Your notebook is set up for 32 bit systems.

Matshita UJ DVD-RAM 860s can't burn CDs or DVDs

To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start
Start button, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Caution There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM.
3. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
4. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
5. In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

The system will automatically rebuild the registry records when you restart your computer. Hope this helps.

Matshita uj-860s don't work

hi,
1.please open the device manager and click the + sign before cd/dvd ROM drive and expand it.Right click and uninstall it.
2.go to IDE/ATAPI controllers in device manager and expand by clicking + sign. Then delete either secondary IDE channel or ATA1.
3.go to run and type regedit>H_KEYLOCAL MACHINE>SYSTEM>CURRENT CONTROL SET>CONTROL>CLASS>single click on the first value having 4D in it(it will be like 4D36) and check for lowe or upper filter on the right hand pain and if any one is there or both delete them.
3.restart the system twice.
If the also it is not working then try to write a small file by windows itself(simply copy and paste and when u will open the cd drive it will show the files waiting to be written)
if this fails also the time has come to change the drive.

My matshita uj-860s disc drive has stopped working

In my case, MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-860S did not want to write CD-R,-RW Verbatim using software NERO 8, but is easy to write their own software windows XP.
in the Log file was as follows:

Could not perform start of Disc-at-once

Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST)

Power calibration error

whether

Invalid field in parameter
E: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-860S

ACTION! :)
Change in method of recording NERO 8 Burning mode: DAO (Disc-at-once) at Burning mode: TAO (Track-At-Once) all have established!
Simply drive MATSHITA was UNSUPPORTED software producers to write disks.
Updating the software to burn CDs, as is windows XP supports the recording and includes drivers for the drive! :)

Good luck!
