Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional
I have Windows Xp home edition installed on my desktop and had NOD32 as anti-virus on it, as it was unable to udate, my younger brother got kaspersky from one of his friends and installed it.
Now the problem is that the system starts but is very very slow.......
Sometimes it does not even start just displays the blank destop for hours....
I tried to uninstall one of them but cannot open control panel as it just hangs when ever I click start menu...
I also tried to login from safemode but no luck
Please help I dont want to reinstall XP , i have a lot of important official data....
HELP!!!!! Thanks in advance
Sounds like you are infected.
I would advise copying your data off and rebuilding the pc. It would probably be quicker than cleaning.

If you have the windows cd, try a repair. If that doesn't work, when windows does start, try windows explorer. If you can get windows explorer up go to C:\Program Files and look for the Kaspersky folder. Try to delete it or change its name. With the program running you may not be alloed to do that. Create anothe folder of any name. Move all the files you can from Kaspersky to the new folder. The running ones may not be allowed to move but the others will. Usually some of them are required for kaspersky to run when it starts. If most of the files in the Kasperky folder are gone, reboot. Hopefully Kaspersky will not be able to run because of missing file. If this is the case and you computer seem OK, delete oth the Kaspersky and New folders. If this doesn't work, I'm out of Ideas..........for now.

Tips for a great answer:
Use Microsoft Security Essentials to help guard against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It provides real-time protection for your home or small business PCs.
Microsoft Security Essentials is free* and we designed it to be simple to install and easy to use. It runs quietly and efficiently in the background so you don't have to worry about interruptions or making updates.
