Try unplugging it from the console and the wall, wait about 20 minutes, then plug it back in.
Hope this helps!

My 2006 VW Beetle continuously blows the Accessory fuse utilized for the power port for the cigarette lighter and underneath the center console. The proper fuse was replaced. Only my phone plugged in when...

Hi Troy,

Without seeing the ports of the car and the plug of your charger, it would be difficult to diagnose with any certainty. I do have a suggestion however. Your note suggests that other devices do not cause the fuse to blow when they are used - it is only the charger for the phone. Since the charger works in other cars, it is probably not an overload condition due to a defective charger, but more likely a mismatched set of contacts between the plug and power port in your car when the two are mated. Some cars have slightly different sized power ports that can be either too tight or too loose for some plugs. Too tight ports could be causing parts internal to the charger's plug or car's power port to short together and blow the fuse.

We can get around this be using a different plug. The easiest way is to find a cord set that will plug into your car's power port and provides a simple extension for 1, 2 or 3 outlets. These can be found in auto parts stores and the automotive departments of stores like K-Mart, Sears, etc. Some examples look like these:

Insert the plug into the power port - and check that the fuse does not blow by checking the fuse - not by plugging something into the the outlet on the cord. If the fuse remains good, then it is safe to assume that the problem with your charger and the car's power port has been eliminated, and the car's power is available at each of the outlets of the new cord.

Try plugging the charger into the outlet of the new cord. If all is well, the charger should be working as expected. What we have done is removed the charger / car power port combination from the equation, by providing a different combination to do the same thing - but without the same physical connection that causes the fuse to blow.

You could achieve the same results by changing the charger plug under the right conditions - but many chargers now a days have circuitry inside them that change the car's 12 volts to something different. If you can find the voltage out of the charger and are able to match it with another - it must be the same voltage, polarity, current and phone power connector of course - it should work, too. You must be absolutely sure of the power requirements and your rewiring - if not, stick with the addition of a cord described above.

I hope this helps & good luck!

My Canon Pixma Printer does not power on. Help anyone?

Does the scanner work? If the scanner works and the printer doesn't then it's definitely a print head problem. This is not a DIY fix. If the scanner doesn't work either then, you have a power supply problem. Usually this means that the small miniature power plug has been damaged (look at it to see if its bent or loose) or the mains power plug is broken inside. Change the mains power plug first as its easier... tools needed: a new mains plug, a small screwdriver (electrical contact type with lamp in handle works best), and a pair of wire insulation striping pliers. Just cut off the old plug and connect the wires to the two poles (this type of equipment is internally grounded (double insulated) so usually there is nothing connected to the ground terminal (leave it blank). Try the device and see if the scanner powers up. If it does, then you're home free. If it still doesn't power up, then you'll have to replace the miniature plug too. You need a 25 watt soldering iron and some fine (thin) electronics solder. Bear in mind that polarity (what is plus and what is minus or positive and negative) is important as there are only two fine wires and two terminals on the new miniature plug. Unscrew the jacket off the replacement plug and pass the wires through it first and then attach the two fine wires. Attach them by twisting gently through the small hole provided in each terminal and then check to see if the scanner works, if it does... disconnect and solder the wires in-place. When buying the new plug, take the old plug with you to buy the proper one there are many different types and a slight size difference can affect the connection. Worst comes to worst, the fusible link inside the power transformer (the plastic rectangular box the power cords plug into) is fried. In this case, you have to buy a new power cord... the whole thing. A fusible link is intended to protect the circuitry in the event of a mains power problem. It can't be replaced. Next time, plug your equipment into a surge protecting multi-tap (extension cord) specifically made for electronics. Belkin and ADP, among a few others, make reputable surge protectors.

Check power outlet. Try TV on a different power outlet. Look for jammed buttons on remote and control panel of TV. Try switching off TV manually, switch off power outlet, remove plug and wait for 48 hours. If problem persists, it might need attention by a qualified service technician.

Blew a breaker and now my computor won.t turn on

Try this, unplug the computer, hold in the power button for 30 seconds or so (this will discharge the capasitors). Now plug the computer back in and try to turn it on. If you still get nothing, try a different surge suppessor. If you still get nothing, try a different outlet. If all of this fails, you most likely have a bad power supply. You will have to open the computer, uplug the power supply from the motherboard, hard drives, DVD drives, ect. Play close attention to what plug goes were. Remove the screws holding the power supply in, and remove it from the computer. You can take this old power supply to about any computer store and find a replacement. Put in the new power supply, plug everything back in. Hopefully the computer will now boot up and run. If not you could have a bad motherboard.

I hope this helps

I have a high grade green 320 when I plug the power lead in the power lights go on but when I try to switch laptop on nothing happens and all lights go out can anyone help solve this problem ? Thanks.

it's a possibility that your power cord has gone bad and is not supplying the correct voltage. if you have a voltmeter, check the output of your power cable. you may also want to try a different adapter or a different power outlet.

Nc6400 no power on

What kind of adapter did you buy? Did it come with 5 - 10 different tips that you try on the end of the power cord until you find one that will fit into your laptop? If so, no wonder you're having problems, those things will burn your board out. AC Adapters have different power requirements (watts) If you have one that has changeable tips, but the watts are constant, you're asking for trouble. Stay away from those one size fits all Ac Adapter Power Cords

Charges at home on a usb port but not in the car

Hi Carl,

You should check your car's fuses to see if the one that supplies power to your USB charger is still good. If you're not sure how to do this, you could try plugging a different device into it and see if it works. If it doesn't - you'll need to inspect the fuse or wiring. (you could also try the charger in a different port or different car to see if the issue is tied to the charger).

If the other device does work, it is possible that the charger has a built in fuse. If the charger is the type that plugs into your cigar lighter, you may find the the tip holds the fuse. The tip may reveal the fuse if unscrewed from the body or may require a screw driver to open the body. Either way, you'll need to ascertain if there is a fuse in it and if so, check its condition.

Sometimes, the charger needs to be aligned a certain way in the cigar lighter / power port (or outlet) due to the way some automakers and device manufacturers design the connections. Repeatedly remove and replace the plug in the lighter / port. Each time, turn the the plug slightly so that it takes 6 to 8 insertions to rotate all the way around in the outlet. This should provide at least one position that allows the plug to make the required contact in the lighter / power port.

Lastly, make sure that there is no foreign object / debris in the outlet, that the the plug fits snugly in the outlet, the the plug's tip has a spring pushing it forward and that the plug is fully inserted into the outlet.

Hopefully, one of these suggestions will get it working. Good luck!

I have a garmin nuvi 765 and the screen does not come on at all. it worked fine before this. I dont use it a whole lot but i miss it...i tried plugging the unit in different vehicles, thinking that...

Did you get this working? if not, try connecting to your computer's USB port over night and turn on again. Install in the cradle in the car - if it goes out or none of the traffic receiver's LEDs do not light, check / replace the fuse in the tip of the power plug or the cigarette lighter fuse in the car's fuse panel.

If you need more help, leave a comment.
