First go to start menu, control panel, sound and audio devices, click the voice tab, and make sure the voice recording has something listed. If not see if you can change it to your MIC. If you get no options in this box you probably don't have the mic installed correctly. If everything appears to be ok in this go to your volume controls, click options, click properties, and make sure you have mic selected in playback sections and check the boxes in recording settings then click ok, one you do this make sure alll volumes are unmuted and turned up.

Distortion in my mic

Adjust the preamplifier level to approx. 9-12o'clock on the input trim.

Then adjust the master level to the desired output.

Which particular mic?

Go through the signal chain. Mic to mixer to pc.

All the level changes are suspect, what busses are you using...

e.g.
mic to channel 1 on mixer.
trim on mixer 1
fader on mixer 1
L/R balance
fader on L/R
which output from mixer are you using

Then the windows mixer (start/run "sndvol32.exe")
adjust the volume, WAVE, mic, etc.

My first instinct is the windows mic level.

Mic output of my pmp3000 is weak, levels must all the way up to get any mic sound louder,Im using balanced xlr's for my mics, Is there any adjustable sensitivity adjustment inside the mixer? like the one...

Some mics will require the trim gain to be full on. Check the mic gain by pressing the PFL for each channel and set trim to be below the clipping level with maximum vocal into the mic.

There are some low output mics that may be inadequte as far as output goes. Shure SM58 are industry standard mic... If you don't have one to try, borrow one to test with.

After that, the slider, EQ controls and the MAIN sloder has all the control.

The answer to your question is NO, there is NOT an internal adjustment.

For many mics the trim is used full clockwise. Some higher output mics I use the trims are run at 3 o'clock which is mostly turned up. This is NORMAL for most mixers. If you don't have enough mic gain relative to other inputs, the fault is balancing the other inputs down and using higher setting on your MAIN slider.

If you use 8 ohm speakers then you can expect to get about 200 Watts of audio per side with this amp. You can get about 400 Watts RMS (600 Watts peak) using 4 ohm speakers.

The efficiency of the speakers makes a lot of difference in the sound level output/

I can't activate my internal mic, and am not certain if I have one or not,

your product specs can be found here

below under TECHNICAL SPECS in audio you can see that you system is supposed to come with a built in mic.

go into system preferences, (sound panel in the OS settings, select input device, input levels), see if you get any feed back from input level, see it's also muted or turned all the way down and adjust as needed
.
if no feedback seen on input level check if the mic holes have any dust in them, clear the dust as needed.

do you remember ever using your mic? where do you need the mic to be activated, see if there's any configuration that you need to do under tools or options for that application

has your computer ever being disassambled?, any repairs? that may have cause the mic to be disconnected internally (if you don't see any input level feed back when talking close to the mic openings and if it's not muted)?

there's a chance that there's a hardware problem, I've heard about wiring wear out causing mic to stop functioning,

a last thing you want to try is a type of hard reset (see here), this is a last resort. if this does not work, it's fair to assume that you have a hardware problem and if there's no warranty on the ibook you may want to just simply get a usb handset (mic and head piece) for your mic needs..

I am attaching an external microphone and need to mute the internal mic. They both work and it echos. PLease help.

Adding a mike doesn't create echos/feedback. Windows? Version? Right click on speaker icon in lower right and go to recording device mixers, can mute and adjust level of sound sources, also microphone power and pre-amp. Telephones and other devices (laptops) with both input and output will feedback unless the input is "noise cancelling", so you will have to be much more careful with the placement of the external mike compared to using the built in mike.

Internal microphone does not pick up sound

Have you tried to go to Control Panel>Sound>Recording Tab and be sure that the mic is not disabled? There are also adjustment levels there too. If all else fails try to uninstall through Device Manager and allow the PC to rediscover the mic.

Microphone volume goes down automatically

Go to control panel and select the sound option

There you will find microphone settings that are enabled, one of them is set to on and adjusts volume automatically as the noise increases, jsut disable that option

Cheers

Acer Aspire internal mic won't work.

You need to check the record settings and make sure the mic is not muted or turned down to low. Click START, CONTROL PANEL, then SOUND icon. Click the AUDIO tab up top. Make sure that your sound card is selected in the drop down menu under Sound Recording. Now click VOLUME tab. A new window will open up. Click OPTIONS then PROPERTIES. Make sure you have a check by the MIC and click OK. In the Recording Control window, turn the level up for Microphone and make sure it is not muted. Let me know what happens.

Audio level Issues with Sennheiser Wireless MIcs

Could be your capture device.  Isolate this problem by monitoring the quality of the audio at the RF reciever, then monitor it at the camera.  I'm assuming you do not have a EFP mixer or other device that will actually measure your Dbm or Vu levels - what happens if you play the tape in the camera and monitor the output of the camera with an external device - even a TV or stereo? If it sounds good on your TV turn your attention to the capture card.
