Question about OKI C5200n Laser Printer

Printer causing program issue's Oki 5200n

I have a customer who was trying to print and everytime he did the program would shut down and give you an error report. I removed the printer and he was able to work again normally. I then tried to reinstall the printer and it would not let me stating could not finish installing the printer. It is a networked printer I had the correct IP address the correct and fresh drivers as well but to no avail I could not get the printer to reinstall I tried doing a system restore to a day when he knew the printer was working and it still failed everytime. I ran spyware and malware scans and found traces of infections but they were all tracking cookies and low leveled events The Machine is a Dell 2300 Dimension XP Pro SP3 with PC Tools Internet Security Office 2003 Pro and a netgear 54g wireless router with 4 port switch Any help would be amazing!

If the printer drivers are the issue, you may need to remove old traces of printer drivers from Server Properties. In the printers and faxes menu, go to File -> Server Properties. On the drivers tab, make sure all past drivers are removed from this list as well. You may find it won't let you on some of the drivers. Stopping and starting the Print Spooler service can often clear any holds you run into.

Try printing lighter prints, heavy toner saturation causes paper to stick to fusers and try to keep leading edge of print blank with no big blobs of colour for the same reason, ensure page sizes are set correctly in driver and machine tray settings and dont print outside margins , if you are about to print outside margins your printer driver should warn you, dont click ok if it does

Ensure your printer works ok with plain paper so we know it aint a printer fault but I'd say it due to how we are feeding the paper and how we have the paper type set and not feeding out the rear as I also think we should be.

Oki does the best colour prints nice and glossy, I dont think many come close to such great colour prints in fact I only like Oki and Kyocera stuff in Colour toner laser machines. Stear clear of cheap non oki toners and supplies because they cause heaps of issues and wreck printers and give many print quality issues, I dont work for OKI directly just telling you how it is in the field ;)

A critical firmware error has occurred that caused the processor on the formatter to abort operation. This type of error can be caused by invalid print commands, corrupt data, or invalid operations. In some cases, electrical noise in the cable can corrupt data during transmission to the printer. Other
causes include poor-quality parallel cable, poor connections, or home-grown programs.

1. Turn the printer off and then on.
2. Press Stop to clear all print jobs from the printer memory.
3. Turn the printer off and then on.
4. Try printing a job using a different software program. If the job prints, try using the original software program to print a different job.
NOTE If the error message only appears when using certain software programs, contact the software program vendor for assistance.
5. If the message persists with different
software programs and print jobs, disconnect all of the cables and turn the printer off.
6. If the error persists, perform a firmware upgrade.
7. Remove all DIMMs, EIO devices, and CompactFlash solutions.
8. Remove all EIO devices.
9. Turn the printer on.
10. If the error does not persist, reinstall the DIMMs, EIO devices, and CompactFlash one at a time.
NOTE You must turn the printer off and then on when reinstalling each component.
11. Replace the DIMM, EIO device, or CompactFlash if necessary.
12. Reconnect all of the cables.

When we set the font it prints for about 2 pages , then returns to the 17 font. We need the 10 font to be able to read the huge amount of items printed. Any way to get it to stay on the 10 font?


You didn't mention which document type or from which program you are trying to print but the commands for the printer are normally embedded invisibly in the document and sent to the printer to accomplish font changes, punctuation, etc.
We might have a better answer and a suggestion if you comment back to this thread with the name/version of the program that produced the document.

My OKI 591 is only printing going one direction, not backwards and forwards like before so it's very very slow. Is there a setting that causes this? Thank you


Usually when this printer prints in HIGH QUALITY, it will only print one way, to avoid misalignment issues between the one pass one way and the next pass coming from the opposite direction.

If I am right, lowering the quality of your print to "normal" or "draft" should give you back the "2-way printing"

Have you tried the Vista drivers from OKI? This link has the Vista drivers. Windows7 is an extension of Vista although this statement may generate a lot flack....

My oki was radio shack. we need a code too get it to print color. if you have that please, please let s kow.


I work for radioshack and its not a driver issue its an actual firmware configuration. it needs some sort of system reset to remove it. I heard there is a "color management" program but i am searching for it at the moment.

Yes, well I can´t help you to solve that problem and in fact i´m hoping that you´ve already solven it, cuz right now i got the same problem with my c3450... It worked just fine under vista x64 but now on windows 7 x64 i have the same problem as you have/had!

Does your program allow for custom size? If so enter 297 and 420mm if in metric
The printer dialogue box may need to be advised of this size also
