Printer goes through the motions but text does not print

I have tried different documents, Tried on word 7 note Pad. I have done a nozzel cleaning. One day it worked very well and the next time i tried to print this happened. Ink ia OK.

Let's first test the printer independant of your computer:
Try printing a test page using the instructions here: http://www.ehow.com/how_2006016_perform-test-epson.html. I hope your model printer is listed there. If not, try to find instructions specific to your model in your model's user guide or elsewhere on the internet.

If this works and printing from your computer doesn't, then:
(???Bad print drivers???) Reload the print drivers on your computer.
(???Bad cable???) Try replacing the printer/USB cable that connects this printer to your computer.
(???Bad USB port???) Try using a different port to connect the cable to your computer.

If none of this works you either have a faulty ink cartridge or a more serious issue with the printer. Depending upon the model, unfortunately, it might be cheaper to replace than repair.

Yellow ink will not print


You may have blocked yellow print head nozzles.

Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the printthen a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase anew printer.
The Print head will contain all the nozzels for all the different colors so you cannot just replace a single color print head nozzels.

It sounds like you have some clogged nozzles. If you have not tried using the cleaning utility, try this first. If you are using aftermarket or refilled ink cartridges and the nozzle cleaning process does not clear the problem, I would put in new OEM cartridges (I know that they are expensive) and clear the nozzles using the cleaning process at least 3x. This should clear the problem. Be careful using aftermarket or refilled cartridges since they often do not meet the manufacturer's specifications and often clog the nozzles.
Let me know if this clears the problem otherwise we can try some other things. Thanks.

Try this,

scan the document to the computer, then view it using a picture viewer.

You may see that the scan is faulty!

The printer may be printing exactly what it sees!

I am not able to print documents. The text is being printed in light grey and sometimes just dots. I have replaced both the color and the black ink cartridges. I have taken the ink cartridge out and shaken...


On the printer
Press Menu > Clean Printhead

Try to print > If same result > Then call Kodak 18004216699 and order a free printhead

The nozzels on the printhead are blocked

have you tried cleaning the printhead. on the printer there is a button that's labled menu, go to maintance and selelect print head clean. after the printer has done this, in the same section "maintance" you can print a nozzel page and that will show if if there's a blockage in the print head. if the nozzel check is ok, and your getting the problem when you print from the computer, check the setting and make sure you haven't got it set on draft or lower. ya hi, the nozzels must have got dried up and choked, put a few drops of hydrogen peraoxide on the nozzel for some time and then clean it, this will free the pores in the nozzel, be careful with the chemical, or take some proffessional assistance.. let me know

Not printing


If the machine goes through the motions of printing i.e. it pulls in the paper and the head runs back and forth but put no ink on the page then it would suggest either a fault with the pump cap and/or the pipes from it to the waste pads OR that the heads are clogged.

If you have no flashing warning lamps and the ink loss was gradual over say a page or after the machine has stood for a while, then you should try an under head cleaning routine as in some of my earlier posts. like this one http://www.fixya.com/support/t137335-problem_print_outs_from_printer

If the ink loss was sudden - like after changing the inks, have you checked to see that  you have removed any and all sealing tapes. You do not mention if you are using genuine inl or compatibles. If using compatibles I would try the cleaning cycle first to clear the dried crud from under the head. Ever wonder why Epson do not make cleaning cartridges but almost ALL compatible ink manufacturers do?

RX500 EPSOM STYLUS PHOTO PRINTER Won't Print


I used some less expensive generic ink cartridges on my RX500 and had a similar experience with the black. If you're already using the Epson brand, done the head cleaning, realignment and nozzel checks, I'm not much help. Try Epson's support at their web site.

Printer Ignoring Black Text


Assuming the print tests you've done so far are built into the printer: Could be worth printing a test page from the printer properties box (which you can get in XP from the START menu, Settings, Printers & Faxes, then Right click on the printer you want and select Properties from the dropdown. If the test page is OK, I'd try printing from a few different applications to see if that narrows the problem down. If the test page has the same problem, then you might try reinstalling the printer driver. A.
