I changed oil and the gas cleaned the spark plug cleaned the air filter. Springs and levers appear to be working. Mower will stay running if you pump the primer button.

You can try to shoot carburetor cleaner in it, but chances are the carb. will need to be taken off and cleaned. If you need tips on how to clean the carb., just let me know.

Your carburetor is definately dirty or it needs new gaskets, screen, and needle valve( carb. kit). Is this something that you think you might want to attempt? It really isn't that difficult. Can be done in about an hour. If so, let me know and I can give you a few tips.

A dirty air filter is a common cause of this. Give it a look. Otherwise a replacement carb would be the route to take.

Mower starts good but only runs 5 minutes befor stalling out and won't start again until cool. It idles OK when blade is NOT engaged. Cause? And how do you set the carb adjustment screws to max. p

No adjustment for carb on newer mowers. All mowers now have a low oil cutoff. Ensure oil is full. 30w oil. If any grey is observed vin oil drain all oil. Moisture in oil. Dump old oil out every 2 yrs and refill. Ensure spark pluf is clean and gapped correctly. Ensure air filter is clean. Replace spark plug and air filter each year. Always use Stabile in gas. Spray outside of carb with carb cleaner to ensure proper choke movement.

hay,I don't know how this ATV,works or how many wheels it has. But I do know some thing about things setting a long time, the weather take its toll,I would get carb/cleaner into the carbs.I would fine the line that feed the carbs to fill the float bol/ so cleaner would go all trough the carbs. lol, And make sure nothing fisiculy stoping farword motion like wheel forzen, brake,or something inthe chain or drive shaft.

My poulan wild thing will start but will not stay running without holding the throttle. What should I do?

Get some sta-bil fuel stabilizer. add twice the amount recommended on the bottle for storage to your mixed gas. Empty out chainsaw tank and refill with the new mix. Rub for 2 minutes, then shut off. Remove cover over carb and spray inside carb, soaking it down good and cleaning all internal surfaces visible - allow to sit overnight.
Next day
Spray down carb with carb cleaner for about 15 seconds. Start saw, allowing 2 minutes to warm up and reduce choke. If saw stalls, restart and spray inside carb as it runs with choke on - keep motor at the highest rpms you can as you spray - spray in 2 second bursts, not allowing motor to stall from spray. If it stalls, change sparkplug and try again. You have varnish build up in the carb and are trying to remove it so the carb will work without the choke. This may take some time but it is the exact procedure I used for my Poulan Team Realtree last spring - I spent about an hour spraying and staring before it ran without the choke.
Good luck!!

Gas engine starts then stalls after a few minutes of running and then will not start again. Carb smells of gas. Seems flooded. Replaced coil without improvement. Been in the shop 3 times, each time tuned...

The shop should have adjusted your air/fuel mixture on the carb. considering the year of the vehicle, you may need to replace the carb with a factory re-manufactured unit. Even if you replace the carb with a re-man, it will still need to be adjusted to optimum performance for your particular vehicle.

18 HP tractor cranks but will not start

It sounds like you lost compression take out the spark plug and screw in a compression tester to check for engine pressure there should be 70 - 90 psi, if you can't buy one put you thumb over the spark plug hole and have a assistant crank over the engine push on the hole pretty hard, be careful not to get a shock from the spark plug wire while cranking the motor, if you feel pressure with your thumb reinstall the plug and connect the spark plug wire proceed to remove the air cleaner and pour a small amount (1 o.z ) of gas into the carburetor hole then try to start if it starts then stalls it is a fuel delivery issue. unscrew the carb float bowl to clear out any water or debree from it. the float bowl is round and is located on the under side of the carb, it should un screw by wraping a rag around it and turning it counter clockwise with a strong hand. also try cranking over the motor with your hand over the carb intake hole this will force any debree to get cleared out of the tiny passages in carb without having to full disassemble the carb this may also get the motor started for you if it starts remove your hand to allow the motor to breath and start/run.

yes gas will deteriate and leave varnish deposits clogging carberator and layer in tank has yellowish color flush lines with brake cleaner and spray carb with spray carb cleaner and spray inside fuel inlet on carb let sit about 15 minutes redo and sit about 4 times clean fuel tank with brake cleaner (with tank off) until clean, refill with fresh gas and add about table spoon carb cleaner per quart of gas and let in run for awhile. when storing for any period of time add fuel stabilizer to avoid this issue in future

Craftsman mower will not start without starting fluid

Sounds like you have water / debris in your carb fuel bowl. Using spray carb cleaner will only work if you remove the bowl and clean the carb jets. Also, you could have water in the gas tank as well. First, remove your air filter, then remove the 3 screws that attach your filter bracket to your carburator and mower. Take off your fuel line at the carb and drain all your gas into a clear jar. If it looks very yellow, cloudy, or see water in the bottom of the jug, change your gas. Using a half inch socket wrench, after gas line is disconnected, remove the fuel bowl and clean with carb cleaner. Also, examine the bolt you just removed. There are 2 jets in the side and one at the end. Using the carb cleaner, make sure they are clean as well. Use the carb cleaner extension tube to spray up inside the bottom center of the carb, where the bolt threads, to clean that area as well. After all this make sure your float assembly is intact and reassemblt the bowl to the carb and reattach the the fuel line. finish by reattaching the air filter support bracket making sure the gasket between the carb and the bracket isn't damaged. Also, never use last year gas, alway buy freah every year.

Toro recycler will run until primed gas is consumed.

The problem is that the gas that sat in the carb all winter glazed it over and gummed it up. Begin by going to any auto parts store, like an aiutozone, and getting a bottle of carb. cleaner. Seafoam is one I use. Add it to your gas, one ounce per gallon of gas. Also, pick up a can of engine starting spray.

Remove the air filter and spray the engine starting spray into the air intake. Pull start the engine and give it additional squirts of engine starting spray until it runs smoothly.
