The power head/light will not turn on. The connection cords seem to be OK. I checked the belt and it is not broken. What else could it be?

To see and get to the two slots and catches, flip the assembly over. There should be directions molded into the plastic on each side closer to the rear than the front. When replacing the belt, it will pull on the beater bar, causing it to dislodge on the belt side, and making it difficult to put the top and bottom back together. To cheat, take a long screwdriver (slotted) and use it to hold the beater bar down from the outside. This makes reassembly a breeze.
Also, remove the bulb prior to reassembly, and put it back when the two screws have been seated.

The top cover covering the light, push in at the sides to release the tabs holding it, then there will be 2 screws, remove them, then with a screw driver, on each side you will see a slot, put the screw driver in ther and pry up to release the catches. Then you can get to the brush roll and belt.

The turbo tool for pet hair on my Hoover power vac doesn't rotate. I removed the brush and cleaned but still doesn't work. Suction is fine without the tool attached.

Have you checked the drive belt on the pet head? Mine comes apart and a thin belt is driven by the propellers which in turn drive the brush head via the drive belt. To check turn propeller and see if brush head rotates if not belt missing broken / jammed

I just need to get the power head apart to replace the belt. The two side tabs by themselves don't release the plastic...it is still firmly attached in the middle.

Look for a few screws under the machine, they will probably have Philips (star) heads. Remove these and the power head should come apart so you can access the belt and pulleys.

I think the belt is off or broken in the cleaning head, but need to get it apart and don't know how

It appears to be the same cleaning head on my model # 116, if so, there are two phillips screws underneath that must be removed. Also remove the two phillips screws on the collar above the head where the wand tube enters. Then there are four plastic retention clips that can be released with a flat head screwdriver. When lifting twist the collar assy that remains on the cleaning head to allow the top plastic cover to come away from the cleaning head. Once off, th brush and belt are easy to access.

Beater bar won't turn. Assume the belt is off or broken but can't see how to get to it. Help!

If the machine is still under warranty, you'll want to take it to an authorized service center for repair. If not, it can be pretty tricky to take the power head apart, replace the belt, and get it put back together correctly. I still recommend taking it into a shop for service.

We have a Miele Silver Moon vacuum that isn't

Hi dear. There are two type of attachments for this vacuum cleaners to pick up the pets hair, fluff & so on.They call it"Turbo & Power Brush".Turbo brush operates with machines suction & Power one operates with small electric motor which is built in the unit. They work with the same prenciple. There is a belt drives the rotary brush.OK.there are two small yellow screw underneath the unit. Please undo them, take of the cover & clean the rotary brush, check for the belts tension. It should be enough tight to drive the brush. If not ask for spare part from Miele in your country. After cleaning please put it back in order. To test it,attached to the vacuum.Turn the power on for Turbo brush,as long as suction starts, brush should start turning too.For the Power one, there should be power button on the handle to turn it on & off.Press it.It should work.On both of the unit, brush should spin good & strong enough to do the job when it's attached the surface you are vacuuming.Check the brush after each use, cleaned if neccesary. I hope that helps.Thanks.

Broken belt

If you have the power head with the headlight, squeeze the sides of the upper part (almost like a superstructure,) where the headlight is located. It should lift off, allowing access to the screws to get the powerhead apart the rest of the way, and on most models it even has instructions on how to replace the belt molded into the plastic.

Broken power head belt

Not sure which one you have, need complete model number. You can go tosears.com, click on the parts link, enter you model number, click on the powerehead link. A parts list will come up along with a picture breakdown of it.
Alot of them the part covering the light is just snapped into place, push in on the side andback to release it. Remove the 2 screws, use a flatblade and stick in the slot on each side from the bottom and pry up to release it.
The other type, you tak out the 2 screws from the bottom, then on the back and each side are release tabs that you pry out to release.

Hose connection broken.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
If you have a broken hose connection, and not knowing the brand name of the vacuum, I can suggest 2 things. If you have an electric hose, meaning that it is attached to a electric power head or power nozzle, some can be repaired depending on what was wrong, but most of the time you have to replace the hose, some pigtails can be replaced but if the electric connection is broken, you need to replace the hose. If it is a non-electric hose, you can use a shrink tube, or cut out the broken part and use a hose cuff to join them together, so just shorten the hose and screw back on the original ends. In either case you need to check with a local vac dealer. Or you can make a new hose with new ends and leave the canister @ the bottom of the stairs and go up with just the long hose, unless you have an upright then you have to make it the length that is on the upright. Or replace it with the genuine hose from the factory or use the ends from the old hose on the replacement hose. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Took apart turbo brush and don't know where to put belt to make brush spin...what two things should it connect?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
There are 2 types of Turbo Brushes, the electric type driven by a power head or power nozzle most likely used on a canister type vacuum or a central vacuum driven by electricity and there is an air driven power head. In either case the belt should be riding on the brushroll pulley on the end or if it is an air driven power head, sometimes the pulley section is in the middle, and the other end would run off the motor pulley / shaft. If you have a flat belt it is suggested that you change the belt every 4 to 6 months, if you have a geared belt, suggested change would be one year or so. I am not sure on the Brand of turbo brush you have, but you can refer to your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or the yellow pages, or contact the manufacturer for a phone # or website address, some times if you have a air driven turbo power brush it may be cost efficient to replace the brush instead of repairing the turbo brush. Just a suggestion.
Example: www.turbobrush.com – this may or may not be the website address not knowing the brand name.
Thanks, Don – The Vac Man
