Hi there.
No i doubt its the chipset but rather the system memory.
Pull the power cord from the back, open the side panel, get a clean dry soft paintbrush, take out the system memory and clean the brass pins and the ram slots of any dust that may have built up, then reseat the memory making sure it clips into place nice and tight and try to boot the computer up again.
If you still get beeps count how many there are and if they are long or short and post back here.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Two beeps is usually the video card.
Do you have a spare video card to change out?
This is why people keep obsolete PCI video cards for just such tests.

M2a-vm mother board

Hi auriaskate,
Currently you are using the onboard PCI video adapter. This graphics adapter uses you're system memory to function.
If there is a problem with you're system memory the beeps can lead one to think there is a problem with the onboard video.
You can not remove the onboard adapter so there may be a problem with you're system memory. (I doupt you're memory is bad) but on the other hand it might not be fully installed correctely. Power off the PC & unplug the power cord from the PC.
Please remove you're system memory & firmly reseat it.
Plug the power cord back in. Start the PC & listen for any beeps except the 1 normal beep known as P.O.S.T = Power on self test. Any beeps after that there is a problem with a device connected to the board.
You're Asus M2A-VM uses an Award bios. Click on the link below to see what Award beeps mean.

Try the memory reseat & check. Let me know if this helped.

Unfortunately it sounds like the processor fried. These are very prone to heat degradation.

I understand that your cpu is not turning on and the repairer confirmed that it is the issue with the mother board. I suggest you to please check the smps fan spinning or not. If its spinning then then the issue could be with the mother board. If not try changing the power cables.

Next check whether your cd rom light is glowing. Even if there is an issue with the mother board, as the power is supplied by the smps the light  should glow if the light is not glowing its clear that something must be wrong with smps.

Please provide us the result of the above steps so that I could assist you further.
