Question about Hampton Bay Heating & Cooling
Air is cooling but not very cold like last year
If the air doesn't seem cool enough it is necessary to use a thermometer to check the difference in temperature between the air going into the unit and the air being blown into the room. Ideally, the temperature difference should be more than 15 degrees. For example, if the temperature going into the air conditioner is 80 degrees, the temperature coming out of the unit should be at least 65 degrees or less. SOURCE: will not atay cooling,
Is this a central air unit? If it is, just go outside to the outdoor unit and look at the coil. The coil is wrapped around the outside of the unit and looks like a radiator. If it is stopped up with dirt, the unit will overheat and cause the symptoms you are talking about
If it is a window air cond, it could have the same issue, but you will have to take it out of the window and take the case off, and look through the rear fan blade at the rear coil. The coil will be stopped up with dirt causing the unit to overheat.
Either way, you can wash the coil out with a water hose and sprayer. Be careful not to get the electrical components wet and let the unit dry out for 30 minutes or so before turning power back on. Below is a good website for further assistance on cleaning the coil.
