If the air doesn't seem cool enough it is necessary to use a thermometer to check the difference in temperature between the air going into the unit and the air being blown into the room. Ideally, the temperature difference should be more than 15 degrees. For example, if the temperature going into the air conditioner is 80 degrees, the temperature coming out of the unit should be at least 65 degrees or less. If the difference is 15 degrees or more there is probably no cause for concern. If the temperature difference is less than 15 degrees you should check the following:

  • Air damper

Check to make sure the air damper is closed. If it's open, it will bring in outside air and reduce the efficiency of the unit.

SOURCE: will not atay cooling,

Is this a central air unit? If it is, just go outside to the outdoor unit and look at the coil. The coil is wrapped around the outside of the unit and looks like a radiator. If it is stopped up with dirt, the unit will overheat and cause the symptoms you are talking about

If it is a window air cond, it could have the same issue, but you will have to take it out of the window and take the case off, and look through the rear fan blade at the rear coil. The coil will be stopped up with dirt causing the unit to overheat.

Either way, you can wash the coil out with a water hose and sprayer. Be careful not to get the electrical components wet and let the unit dry out for 30 minutes or so before turning power back on. Below is a good website for further assistance on cleaning the coil.

Ac not blowing cold on 2004 wrangler

Was it getting cold before the compressor was changed ?
Could be a list of things including low on freon, restriction in the lines, cooling fan, restriction in air flow thru the condenser, etc.

Air is not coming out as cold as last year on my Gulfstream Mako

Hello, this could be due to a low refrigerant charge. Sometimes the schreader valve core can leak where the gauges attach to the system, usually they are slow leaks. Also, make sure there is enough return air coming into the unit and that all returns are open and not blocked.

Conia air conditioner reverse cycle - not blowing cold air; checked setting its correct.. it seems to blow cool air, but house is not cold. It was working fine last summer, not sure of problem.

If you feel cool air near blower, you have to service your unit completely. Because it's giving cool but not removing heat from room due to coil and air filter blocking. Helpful?
