Minolta bizhub C250 is "offline" every time it rains/electricity

The man who installed our Minolta bizhub C250 has it set up to work thru an FTP site?? Was this correct to do?

Every time the electricity goes off, we have to call someone to get it up and running again. Is this really that difficult to do? Is it not like installing any other network printer? We don't use the fax portion on it.
