Whenever the monitor is turned on, it displays for about 3 seconds and then goes black. what to do? It is only about 3 yrs old

One of three things is the most likely culprit.

1. Onboard video card is either disabled or bad.
2. Cable is bad
3. Monitor is bad.

You can check the last 2 relativly easily by hooking the monitor and cable up to another computer to see if they function. if they don't then first try swapping out the cable (i say this first because its cheaper) then swap out the monitor.

To see if the video card is bad try hooking up a different monitor to the system. If the new monitor is not displaying anything then you most likely will need to put a new video card in the machine.

The display has turned yellow.

Possibilities:

* bad connection of video-cable to monitor
* bad connection of video-cable to computer
* bad video-cable
* bad monitor -- connect to a different computer to see if it works, or displays the same symptom
* bad video-card -- connect a different monitor to see if the symptoms persist

It's probably time to responsibly-recycle that CRT, and spend $100 to buy a new 19-inch LCD monitor.

BUILT IN ORINOCO WIRELESS ADAPTER DON'T DISPLAY ANY NETWORKS

Maybe your internal antenna has come unplugged. Try opening the back plate and looking at the wireless card, usaually they have a black cable and white cable pressed onto two studs on the wireless card. carefully try to push the cables down firmly onto the card. NB this may void your waranty make sure battery is taken out before you start and not plugged into mains.

Monitor starts then goes off, no signal

I would check the LCD against another monitor. It does not have to be a LCD, a regular monitor will do.
This will tell you 2 things, 1. The Video card is good or bad, 2. The Cable is sendinf a good signal.
If when you startup the monitor, you see a display and then after a few seconds it display's a no signal message, this is consistant with a Bad cable or cable ends. or Bad VGA card from computer.
Hope this helps. Good luck..
P.S. If you have move the PC, you may want to open the unit, and re-seat the Card. If the card is not making a solid connect on the board, it will display these syptoms.

I cannot review pictures on my Canon PowerShot A400

Yes, the first thing to try is a new memory card. They do go bad. As for the current card, hang onto it. You still may be able to retrieve the photos once you get back to your computer using retrieval software. See this link.

You're board does not use an integrated graphics card.
Monitor does not have video display. There can only be four reasons why.
1. The monitor's video cable is not connected correctly at each end (Video card & Monitor) or cable is bad.
2. The monitor’s power cord is not plugged into a good power source or cable is bad.
3. The monitor may be bad.
4. * The AGP graphics card is either not seated correctly in its AGP slot, (remove/clean copper contacts with alcohol/allow to dry & reseat snuggly), or graphic's card is bad.
Monitor’s power cord can be switched with the PC's power cord.
The video cable & monitor can be swapped by borrowing from a friend.
(Just make sure their stuff is working first).
Never open the PC case without unplugging the power cord first.

Luck!
