DMC-FZ30 Zoom Stuck!

Hello, I have stupidly dropped my camera on the lens; now the zoom will not rotate and it stuck at 2x, my wife will kill me!! Is there any chance someone could tell me how to disassemble the camera or get a copy of the repair notes? Best regards, Jason

Hi.

You may buy it online at panasonic, a less than 9$ expense wich seems correct :
https://www.completeservicemanuals.com/panasonic/technics/digital-camera/cat_29.html

Or you may try with such links as this, but he didn't tell if he gives them for free (probably not !) : http://www.tv-forums.com/forum/TV_Equipment_C4/TV_Repair_Forum_F3/Panasonic_Service_Manual_P47425/

Hope it would help, Didn't find a true free link but that may exist, you should have to browse some more with the help of search engine.

It's incredibly tricky to dissasemble a lens and I wouldn't recommend it unless you have nerves of steel!

A method that I've seen work is to lay the camera on its back so the lens is pointing upwards.. then hold the lens down by pressing your thumbs against the rim.. then while holding it down quite firmly, switch the camera on - you should feel some movement against your thumbs, you're basically trying to resist this movement . Switch the camera off and on again (with your fingers crossed) and see if it worked!
The idea is that this relocates the lens into the correct alignment.

Zoom is stuck and it wont stay on

Have you tried using a fully charged battery?

also, there could be a dust build up or a sand residue stuck inside the lens that it why its having a hard time coming in or out eventually.

Try to hold your camera, with the lens facing down, from your right hand and while turning it on, hit the camera gently on your left palm. Try this several times.

Panasonic lumix dmc-fx01 won't focus

See the post for the same camera: "Buttons stopped working": there is a small 2 position switch connected to the zoom button. In my camera the zoom switch was stuck in one of the extreme positions. You have to put it back in the middle an re-assemble.

If the lens is jammed in the out position you can try holding the camera firmly and tapping/hitting it against your hand with the camera on. The lens should then retract. If this doesn't work or if you are afraid of dropping it (do it on your bed, that way it doesn't hit the floor if you _do_ drop it), you can drop it on a wood/firm surface from an inch or so up and it should retract the lens. This solution ONLY WORKS IF THE LENS IS JAMMED.

Lens stuck

It sound like a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!

Zoom and shutter not functioning

that is a symptom of being dropped and stuck in a mode.
it requires total dissemble of the camera to fix or replace the lens. your lucky it takes pictures at all. most cameras refuse if the lens is stuck.
