johuy, thank you for the solution. I was looking for the manual reset instructions since I am not using a new transfer roller but moving a working transfer roller from one machine to another machine with the replace transfer roller error. Sorry I was not more clear in my original post

Found my own solution while looking for one myself:

The transfer roller is actually a reservoir for scraping excess toner from the pages that attaches to the paper before it gets "Baked" on. It has a plastic chamber that an IR sensor looks at to see when it is full. This is a messy job to clean out, but I just did it myself. It only takes about 10 minutes and it works great! Note, this may not be a permanent solution, but it may save you from throwing the thing out due to the high cost of the transfer roller replacement.

1. Remove the transfer roller and take to a location where you can get about 2 cups of waste toner out.
2. Remove 2 screws to remove the reservoir from the transfer package.
3. carefully remove reservoir while holding the 2 plastic gears in place, or they will fall off. The gears connect to a wire "Mixer" that evenly distributes the waste toner in the reservoir.
4. While holding the gears in place, shake the excess toner into a garbage bag or something.
5. You may need to wear a respirator or dust mask as toner will get everywhere. Compressed air may help, but I'd do it outside.
6. Find the clear plastic chamber and using compressed air, and cotton swabs, clean it thoroughly so that the IR sensor can "See" through it.
7. Reassemble the unit and make sure to clean the transfer roller carefully with a lint free cloth.
8. Re-install the transfer roller into the machine and it should be good to go!

Just after putting all new toner cartridges, fuser and transfer roller, my Xerox Phaser 6350 now won't print, and the LCD is completely blank.

Could be the Main Formatter board....Are you still getting power?....if you are the main formatter board is most likely the problem....If everything starts up and sounds normal to ready..and you just don't see anything on the screen your control panel is bad....You can call the guys at www.getthatpart.com who have these parts. These guys know their stuff and sell everything for the 6350 from used working units....so you get the parts for half the cost of new. They also have phone number so you can talk to a real person who can help!

How do you reset transfer roller count on phaser 6250

I have a XEROX 6200 Printer. I tried to do the solutions above, but I did not have those options in the Maintenance Menu. I pulled out the Transfer Roller Unit and opened up the two screws on top. When I pulled the top, it was loaded with toner. I poured out all that toner in the trash and blew out the rest with a air gun till it was clean. Be careful of the two white gears on the side, when you take off the top. You don't want to lose them. Anyhow, I reassembled the unit back and stuck it back into the printer and the error message was gone. Yeayyyyyyyyy!

How to install the transfer roller

On the front right side your going to see a lever with the letter "A" pull that lever up and that opens the whole fron cover. If you look inside the front cover you will see the transfer roller
"TRANSFER ROLLER 108R00592" . Once you have ID the tranfer roller you will notice tan tabs one on the right and one on the leftside. Push those tabs inward this will cause the transfer roller to unlock then just pull up . Then to install alight the black tabs on the bottom of the tranfer roll to the same possition as the old one and just press down and it should lock in place and that is it. Good luck.

Transfer roller usage message on Phaser 7700. replaced..still wont print

I found the answer here: http://office.support.xerox.com/SRVS/cgi-bin/webcgi.cgi

Resetting Transfer Roller Life
  • Resetting the transfer roller life is to be performed only if the Transfer Roller Assembly was defective and or the assembly is replaced before an end of life or near end of life message. Not to extend the life of the assembly. Doing so may cause premature failure of other internal printer components.

  • The printer will prompt the user to reset the life counts if the assembly is replaced after receiving a Replace Transfer Roller or Replace Transfer Roller Soon message.
note_image33x30.gif    Note: If the main Menu does not appear on the front panel screen and only Replace Transfer Roller is displayed, there may be a print job that is either processing or currently printing. Try the following steps to clear the print jobs and reset the Transfer Roller life:
  1. Press the cancel button several times to flush processing jobs from the printer.

  2. If you do not receive access to the front panel menu by doing this, power off the printer and disconnect Ethernet, parallel or USB cable from the printer.

  3. Turn the printer back on, and while it is powering up, immediately start pushing the cancel key repeatedly until you receive access to the front panel menu.

  4. If the printer menu appears on the front panel screen, follow the instructions below to reset the Transfer Roller life if the printer did not prompt you to reset it:

  1. With Menus highlighted press OK.

  2. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Supplies Info Menu.

  3. Press OK.

  4. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Exit at the bottom of the menu tree.

  5. Now scroll up to Reset Transfer Roller Life.

  6. Press OK.

  7. Reset Transfer Roller NOW is displayed.

  8. Press OK to reset the transfer roller life.

Replace Transfer Roller

In the Phaser 6250 Color Laser Printer Service Manual (which I had to have emailed to me from my toner supplier since it is not available to the general public) I went to Chapter 6 - Error Messages and Codes. I had to reboot the printer. Here is the procedure.

Entering by rebooting the printer:

1. Turn the printer power OFF
2. Hold down the Back and Information buttons simutaneously and turn the printer
back on.
3. Continue to hold the buttons until the following message is displayed on the front
panel: Service Diagnostics V#.##, Initializing ....., and then release the buttons.
4. The front panel displays the Service Diagnostics Menu.

On the display is a menu. Find Transfer Roller. Press enter on this menu where it says Toner Waste (Not Full). Back out of the menu.

All of a sudden the machine came to life. You may have to turn off the printer and turn it back on again.

Good Luck
