Oven died while using convection feature

I was using the convection feature (oven temp was set at 425 & preheated) and after about 10 min of cooking time, the whole thing went dead.. checked for pwr at the outlet, that was okay.. Unplugged the oven and waited about an hour for it to cool down hoping some thermal fuse device would reset, but no help.. Any ideas ???

Re: Oven died while using convection feature

Thanks for the help !! It turned out to be the oven cavity TCO which is in the upper l/h corner under the grill.. I ordered the part which cost me $21.50 incl shipping.. It's not a big deal to change.. I'm just a little ticked off because I've only used this oven 3-4 times.. It was manufactured in July 2003 (I've had it in storage for two years untill my kitchen renovation was done).. If it's acting up now what else am I in store for ?? Well thanks again !!

Re: Oven died while using convection feature

It may be the main fuse inside, or it may be the thermal cutout.

While a thermostat will reset after cooling, thermal cutouts (TCOs) are thermal fuses, one-time devices that must be replaced.

Is the sharp above range microwave model r-1871t recirculating?

According to the Sharp product site, , the R-1871 is a convection and microwave oven. The manual describes using the convection oven feature on page 18 (page 20 of the PDF). The direct link to the manual is: . The convection button is on the top left in the middle group of buttons. You use the numeric power level buttons to set the oven temperature. When you program convection cooking, the 1 button will bring the oven to 100 degrees F. The 6 button gets the oven to 350 degrees F.

I hope this helps.

The oven will turn on and get warm (not up to set temp)not as hot as it should. I no longer hear the forced air noise from the fan/blower from the back of the oven? It will not cook food, in the time frame...

is your power setting up allthe way (10) is it a convection oven also? microwaves dont usualy have a temp. setting unless there is a probe pluged in inside oven to a jack on inside wall of microwave microwaves can also get old and lose power if so you can get cheep ones at wallmart

Sharp R-1871 microwave/convection oven. Microwave will not work

This may be due to the microwave section not working. Check the high voltage diode if it is ok, replace the Magneton.

Preheat Freezes

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Otherwise, the temperature sensor / thermistor may have failed.

If you don't have the manual, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.
