You are absolutely right .the ribbon is either got misallighned or over streched or faulty.that needs to be checked and replaced.this will solve the issue. thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

the amplifier is seeing a short problem,or the internal components like one of the output IC's are causing dc to show at the speaker terminals. the speaker protect is causing it to shut down.
