Problem with spacebar key

I don't quite understand why this would happen after pluggin in a USB mouse - but I've seen it numerous times after a liquid has been spilled on a keyboard.

Sounds like you need to replace the keyboard. Best way to test this is to plug in an external usb keyboard and see if you can type normally on it.

If the laptop keyboard exhibits this behavior, and the external keyboard doesn't - you should replace the laptop keyboard.

On my laptop, the cursor jumps unpredictably to previously entered text.

The space bar 'contacts', internally are dirty or defective. You will probably need to replace the keyboard or seek from manufacturer a 'cleaning process ' for this keyboard.

My droid r2d2 SMS app freezes while typing text messages. It will show a blinking cursor, but will not continue to type. I usually have to go back to the home screen at least 3 times, then reopen the text...

Mine started this today, R2D2 Motorola A957 Droid 2 which was OTA upgraded to Android 2.3.3 about a month ago (when Verizon began pusing the over-the-air upgrade from FroYo to Gingerbread). I have a large digest of SMS text messages and less than 2 dozen MMS (pix) messages on the phone. I thought that using a TXT backup app, clearing the TXT conversations out completely, and then trying a "brand new" text message would fix the problem, if it was strictly an out-of-memory issue for the stock TXT messaging app, but no joy.

One change I recently did was to move most of my apps to SD (the 8GB MicroSDHC card originally included with the R2D2) so that the internal memory is freed up for better performance, or so I hypothesized. As far as I know, none of those Android market apps are tied to TXT, mainly games, multimedia and productivity apps, so baffled by whatever has changed with TXT composition.

My description of the problem: When I slide out the QWERTY hardware keyboard to type a TXT (either new or reply), a few key presses into typing, the cursor stops responding, and then the screen backs out (as if the BACK button were pressed), and a few more of the final keystrokes begin a "search" of my messages. Example, let's say I meant to type "I'm fine, how are you?" My R2D2 begins the text normally as: I'm fine, how ...then there's a frozen screen, and it returns to the TXT conversations list and begins a search for messages with: areyou. Very frustrating since not only does it bail out of the message thread, but it also doesn't save the characters I've typed as a draft. Previously, when a TXT composition is interrupted by incoming call or other screen activity, the stock app has always saved the message as a draft so I can simply select the conversation from the list and continue. Nope, now I have to start over. And can you tell that my SMS messages are never short anyway? Having a TXT conversation became a ridiculous ordeal today as I retyped and retyped the same reply that was rapidly becoming obsolete.

So now I'm looking into backing up anything I can from my phone, and will attempt a factory reset/recovery if I cannot find a solution tonight. I can't keep up with business over TXT and who knows what else is going to go bonk with my business smartphone tomorrow when I will really depend on it to behave. If you find a solution, I hope to find it posted here. Thanks in advance to anyone out there with some helpful suggestions!

The cursor jumps backward often while I type, and writes behind where I am, lines behind.

You're probably hitting the touchpad with the heel of your hand while typing. Many people do it without realizing it, and the computer is just moving the cursor to where it thinks you're telling it to go. If you're doing lots of typing, you may want to plug in a USB external mouse and turn off the touchpad. This eliminates the cursor jumping, and a regular mouse makes moving around a document and selecting text easier.

What says home or end keys

it is primarily used to return the cursor to the beginning of the line where the cursor is located. When the text is not editable, the home key is used to return to the beginning of the document; this can also be done in editable text if the key is pressed along with control.
The home key can also be used to highlight all the characters before the cursor in a certain line if pressed along with shift in editable text.

The home key will take you to the beginning of the line you are on - try it, type a bunch of stuff then hit the Home key and you will be brought to the beginning of the line. If you are in a multi-line document, hitting CTRL+Home will bring you to the start of the entire document.

Similarly, the end key will take you to the end of the line while CTRL+end will take you to the end of the document

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.
Have a good day

HI, Ihave a serious problem with my keyboard, i do not know what it is but i think it has to do with the spacebar, arrowkeys and backspace..........whenever i am typing and i press the spacebar or backspace...

I wonder if something may have be spilled on the keyboard.?
If you are sure that this is not possible, You may have picked up a virus and have some bad files.
If you are running VISTA, type recovery manager, then choose hardware driver re-installation and next, allow the system to re-install your hardware drivers.
This will not effect your saved files or programs. Will only reinstall the hardware drivers.
If you still have the same outcome, you will have to replace the keyboard.
In the meantime, you can pickup and USB keyboard and use it until ready to have repairs completed.
Hope this info has helped you.
