Question about Lands Phones

Excessive bleach was used. What appeared to be residue from hoses stained clothes, pieces of a plastic gasket approx. quarter inch in width, was found in the basket. Where did the gasket come from? What problems will occur do to the broken gasket? After several cycles, the water has cleared.

What i am referring to is a clear plastic material, about 1/4 inch in diameter. What is the part on the right side of the machine, at the bottom, that is clear plastic, through which water from the basket circulates, and then drains? Could the gasket come from within this part?

  • peter680 May 28, 2009

My concern is where the plastic material, which appears to be a gasket, came from. There is a part on the lower right side of the machine, through which water circulates. It is the only part that I could imagine that the plastic material came from. I don't know if there is a plastic gasket within that part.

  • peter680 May 28, 2009

What material and color is the gasket? Perhaps, what I found is not a gasket. If a gasket broke, what problem would occur? What could go wrong with the plastic part referenced? The water seems to be circulating, and draining properly. If plastic material came from it, what could go wrong?

The machine is a Maytag, model LAT8826AAE, Serial No. 1146853QZ. I had initially provided that info. I did not realize that you did not have it.

Hi,

This is the unique gasket which By the unique gasket, washing machine can left no residual water hidden between outer drum and front board .

or

It could also be the door seal/gasket. There will probably be a clamp at the front holding the gasket in place at the door and another one inside holding it onto the drum. The latter is tricky to remove and you might end up having to take off the top and remove part of the front panel in order to get enough working/leverage room to unscrew the clamp. You may have to isolate the machine from the mains while working on it and I had to disconnect some of the internal wiring too (if you do this then label all wires so you know how to connect everything back up). Some people suggest taking digital photos before you do anything so that you can reference them if you get confused later on! You can also manage to dislodge the powder drawer water feed and ended up having to adjust this to correct the damage that I had done...

Thank You

How can I repair a bleach stain on a t-shirt

For an immediate treatment of a bleach stain, try Sodium Thiosulfate (often referred to as photographic fixer, it is an agent that has been used as a way to neutralize bleaching effects of other substances. Blot stain at first with a white cloth that has been dipped in ST until stain begins to disappear of fabric becomes saturated. Rinse with cold water and repeat until desired effect or no more progress has been made.
If you wanna get rid of the stain without using laboratory grade chemicals, use white vinegar. Before this, make sure you rinsed bleach out of fabric, if you don't it will release a toxic chlorine gas.
Soak a clean white cloth with vinegar and start blotting stain, keep doing this until fabric won't hold anymore.

Is ge doing anything about mold issue in their refrigerator model zir36nmarh

It is very easy to prevent and/or remove mold once formed.
Mold usually forms around the freezer doors an the door gasket. This usually happens in a humid climet when the "Energy Savings" mode is on. That causes sweating on the door frame followed by mold and black residu.
PREVENT MOLD BY TURNING THE ENERGY SAVINGS OPTION OFF!
You can usually turn it on during the winter, when home heating is running and humidity is low.
Remove mold from door gasket by applying any spray cleaner that contain Bleach or just use towel with bleach. For very dark stains, allow the bleach to stay for about one hour, it will remove most stains
After cleanup, using you finger, redress the door gaskets with a very light coat of common Petrroium Vaseline. This will leave the door gasket soft and protected for a long time.

Bleach stains on black jeans

Bleach doesn't stain ! it removes the dye from the fabric.
I would suggest trying to re dye the fabric with a black dye as Jeans material might be more successful .

Synthetic fabric is not as easy to re dye end up using a permanent black marker on Synthetic Shirt that I got bleach on. .

I have a Whirlpool front loading duet washer. It's probably around 10 years old... Not sure. But it leaves marks on my light colored clothes and has from early on. I just didn't realize the problem was the...

The brown stains are likely coming from the felt drum seal. The OEM adhesive is tar based - and after time and use - breaks down.

You'll need a new felt seal - and the adhesive that is used should be silicone based... eliminating the brown streaks.

Stains in my thermocast sink

Rinse after every use. Sanatize with Bleach once a month. Use a soft cloth or sponge and liquid soap to remove residue. Scratches can be buffed and polished with a liquid based auto polish to maintain High Gloss finish. Do not use abrasive cleaners which will dull the finish. If you have used the sink in a non-normal usage and stained it, it can not be repaired under most circumstances. If you have not voided the warranty, you may be eligible for a replacement from the company.

Clothes coming out with stains they didn't have - looks like oil/grease

Front load greasy residue ,

Due usually to much detergent in each load, use smaller amounts.
To much detergent degrades the rubber seals and gaskets and rubber seal also in some front loaders around the door too!

Over the life of a front loading washer the seal/gasket degrades
largely due to the chemicals in the detergent as well as bleach.

Most gaskets/seals get hard and brittle therefore the over the life of a front loading washer
the seal/gasket degrades largely due to the chemicals in the detergent as well as bleach.

....please rate this ....thanks

I know it has a self cleaning filter, but.......

not a true filter on machine ..if you have odor issue try filling tub ith hot water pour in 2 cups chlorine bleach allow to mix and then let set approx 30-45 min aloow to finish cycle this will also help clean any residue from outer plastic tub that may be coming back off onto clothes by the way what passes for a filter may be 4 small washers under agitator or at best a plastic piece with lots of teeth under inner basket on bottom good luck

DARK CLOTHES END UP WITH BLEACH DOT STAINS

SOME BLEACH DISPENSERS USE COLD WATER TO FLUSH THE BLEACH FROM THE CUP. CHECK THE COLD WATER FOR GOOD PRESSURE. IF THERE ISN'T GOOD PRESSURE, REMOVE THE COLD WATER HOSE FROM THE MACHINE AND CHECK THE SCREEN INSIDE THE VALVE WHERE YOU REMOVED THE HOSE. PUT THE END OF THE HOSE IN THE TUB AND TURN IT ON. CHECK FOR GOOD PRESSURE. CLEAN THE SCREEN AND RECHECK THE WATER PRESSURE AFTER REINSTALLING THE HOSE AND TURNING ON THE WATER. IF YOU STIL HAVE POOR PRESSURE REPLACE THE VALVE.

Leaves

with the exeption of something you mistakenly left in your clothing and wound up in the washer, not likely stains are from there , most of the time they do come from the dryer, try grabbin an old white rag nad runnig it around hte fron of hte dryer drum and then tyr the rear where the drum meets the back bulkhead. usually leavs brownish streks smome what curved 2-3 inches log. its from hte felt hte supposed to seal the drum. its either wearing thin, or a glide has worn away causing the issue
