I have the exact same problem and can't solve it.  There was a power outage in my home last night and perhaps it fried when the power came back on later?

Have the same problem - somebody powered off the unit from the deck, and now all attempts to turn it back on don't work. The StandBy light stays blinking, no functions on the deck work, and all the front panel lights are dark (Except the one blinking light) Checked all the speaker wires, no problems there. Any one have another solution?

Gee...looks like a whole mess of us in the same boat. I do AV installs and have the same issue with the unit. Plug it in, power on...blinking light. NOTHING connected to it. I have to guess with some of the other stories in here, the power supplies are a little sensitive perhaps? Going to have the client bring it to a repair shop and see what the deal is. Will follow up for future readers with same problem.

I hwas hearing feedback through one of my speakers one morning before work. I turned the power off on the deck and left for work. I went to turn on the unit when I got home to work on the feedback and all I got was a blinking light (rest of front panel is dark).

How much will it cost to have this problem repaired?
If substancial amount, I'm thinking of just replacing it with a new system.

Mine does the same excat thing, It happend about 3 months ago, so I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and after an hour or so, it turned on. I refused to even turn the receiver off, because i feared it would not turn back on. The power went out at my house, and I have had the receiver plugged in for over 24 hours, and it is not turning on. I notice that the light will blink faster and faster, then slow down, then speed up. It's really frustrating because Sony has nothign to say about it. Does anybody know what the problem is, or what can be done to fix it?? I did notice that if I unplugged it for a while, then plugged it back in, the light would just stay red, instead of blinking. So I really don't know, I'm confused! Please help!

Same problem here. It's been blinking for 1 - 2 months now. It happened last year, then came up on its own. This time I fear it's not coming back up. Will have to replace - but not with a Sony system.

I was having a similar problem and determined that there was a short in the speaker leads for the center channel speaker. The leads to the speaker were touching, after being moved, slightly while housecleaning. Once short was eliminated, unit powered on and worked with no problem.

Yes, Guest is correct. Replace C914. Mine was a 47-uf 35w. $1.35 from Radio Shack.

May be a power supply failure. I fixe one with StandBy light blinking.
Replace C914 47uf-50v capacitor on the power supply board. Be carefull to do it or ask a technicien to do the work.

Sony Dav-C770 blinking standby light product will not function

I had the same problem, red blinking light after owning for several years. I decided to replace the capacitor at C914 to see if it would work, and it did. Apparently that capacitor is prone to failure. Since this seems to be a common problem, I created a web page detailing the repair. Hope it is helpful. Repair cost $1.39 + tax.

Sony tv blinking standby and does not turn on

more than likely the door is not closed properly. remove the door and check it for warping and discoloration, if it is replace the door and clean the siraco fan above the lamp you must remove the light engine to get to it. this is a known problem and there is a fix to keep this from hapening agian call an authorized sony repair to have this done.
