You didn't say if you were using their wireless "dongle" or an ethernet connection. If ethernet try to connect another device - laptop, blu-ray or etc to see if you're getting a good modem signal. You might try re-setting the ethernet connection on your 609.
I'm assuming your audio is working, Onkyo had a lot of trouble with their HDMI cards, for some reason the defect usually took out the audio and ability to connect to the web.
Onkyo had a recall on 609s and they will repair the defect, free of charge or shipping. (In a range of serial numbers that, unfortunately, I do not know.) I took mine to a local repair shop and they told me it was recalled. It was about a year out of warranty but they fixed it.
Hi try disconnecting all of your speakers (check speaker terminals ,all your wire, speakers as they may be cousin short)and turn on the receiver. If it shows the same problem try factory reset shown in the link below ,if that don't work then it mite be some hardware problem and you should contact your local service .Hope it helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfJEw-VlpWY
It's been several months since the original post but :
The HDMI board on several different models of Onkyo receivers were defective. There was a recall on these receivers and Onkyo might fix them for free, even if the receiver is out of warranty.
This is the same problem i've had with my POS nr609. I will never buy Onkyo again.. Everyone warned me about the poor quality.. This thing worked for a year and a half, blew the amp., replaced and now another year and a half, f'd again. Save your time, buy a Denon or a Harmon Kardon. Better quality, same features..
