Panasonic cf-18fdazxvm mouse not working

I have an old Panasonic CF-18fdazxvm that has failed to respond to the external mouse or touch pad and because the keyboard seems not to respond to each key stroke, am not sure or can't remember how to get the on screen keyboard up and running. In addition the mouse pointer is randomly moving without me touching any part of the computer.
And how did I get myself into this mess? Well the computer was loaded with windows XP and configured to connect to the company intranet. Since this configuration the mouse has not worked and the IT person did mention this prior to handing it over saying the touch pad will not work but attachning an external mouse would work. Unfortunately this hasn't hence my request for help.

Need to disassemble

to remove the keyboard on the cf-18 keyboard you must remove the 4 screwsby the ESC, F4, F10, and PAUSE key. once removed lift the 2 covers and holding the keyboard from Function key sides lift up slowly. There are 4 sticky tapes holding the keyboard, once some of the tapes are off you can slide the keyboard up towards the LCD to remove. The connector to the keyboard can be removed by removing 3 screws from the aluminum center cover found under the keyboard
