A7N8X-E has a award bios chip on it. are you getting a beep code when you try and post / power on the system.

some common errors.

long beeps or continuous beeps can be a memory error

i suggest reinserting the memory modules make sure they are inserted correctly.

one long beep followed by two or three beeps relates to a video card error

for this i would suggest reseating the graphics card make sure its sitting in the slot correctly.

if you can see bulging or leaking caps on the motherboard i would look into buying a new socket A motherboard it will only cost you around £50 and you then have a years warrenty

i hope this helps !

This sounds suspiciously like a heat issue. Id the CPU or power supply gets too hot, the unit will power down in self-protection. Ensure that the CPU heatsink is securely fastened to the CPU. Ensure that the CPU fan is operational and that the heatsink fins are free of dirt and debris..Ensure the Power Supply fan(s) is//are operating and feel the case for excessive heat. Inspect the MB power capacitors (located near and around the CPU) for discoloration and swelling. Correct any issue found. MB capacitors mau not be replaceable.

Motherboard will not start, believe it is bad capacitors, how di I DIAGNOSE THEM?

Bro, you can't fix bad capacitors on your mb. If it's under warranty then give your computer/mb manufacturer a call. Otherwise you gotta get a new one. FYI if you get a different model your os may have issues with it. If you have windows 7 you should be ok.

I have changed power supply of Aspire T180 to upgrade, no response from my desktop

you may have electrocuted motherboard if you did not stay grounded while putting in power unit. touching MB while not grounded can cause really bad issues. if cpu heatsink fan is not spinning when power on, then that would stop boot up. if graphics card boot files corrupted then no boot either. check to see none of the capacitors on MB are swollen at cross+ top. if they are bulging then they could have blown stopping power from reaching MB. things you need to check.
also, ac adapter may be bad.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to boot

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

hope this helps

Either your power supply does not have the proper connection to your MB CPU power connector or you need a bigger power supply.

Check MB and PS manuals for details.

Good luck!

Video went out-mb looked like 5 or 6 bulging capacitors. replaced with used same mb, used processor. did not start up with 500watt power supply. do i need to replace with emach power supply? emachC6423

Hi,
Probably not providing the block connectors are the same.

Make sure you have your memory seated properly and also clear the CMOS if you have the option. If you don't remove the power supply to the motherboard and take out the CMOS battery for an hour.

While you are waiting take a close look at the caps that you replaced to make sure the are the right way round, use the other motherboard as a guide.

Good luck.

Chances are about 35% it toasted your MB 65% it didn't. REplace it and see if your PC boots and run properly. If it does the MB is more than likely good.

I am upgrading to a newer mb and need to know how big a power supply i need the mb is a epox 8k9a71

Hello, I would recommend probably at least a 400 watt power supply or greater. You could probably get by with something smaller like a 350 watt but depending on how many accessories (harddrives/cdromdrives/etc) you are planning on hooking up bigger is better. If this helps please rate. Thanks.
