Re: Pcmcia slot not working

What OS are you using? Do you know if you have the drivers installed for your PCMCIA slot (Please note picture below)?

Does this devise pick up internet on laptop or desk top either one

Hi cfisherman8

This is a PCMCIA Wireless Adapter Card.

It slots into the large PCMCIA Port that almost all larger laptops and notebooks have.

This device can also work in a Desktop computer but requires a PCMCIA Cardbus Adapter to be installed in the Desktop Computer for it to slot into. There are different types of Desktop PCMCIA Cardbus Adapter. Some types internally connect a PCMCIA Wireless Adapter Cardbus to an empty Motherboard PCI Slot and others externally connect a PCMCIA Cardbus to the computer via its USB or Serial Ports. See here for examples:

Other alternative internal wireless networking devices for Desktop computers include a PCI Wireless Network Card. See example here:

Once installed, it is able to send and receive data wirelessly between the computer and any Wireless Router/Modem to which the computer is configured to connect.

This device is most easily used with a Laptop. An easier solution for a Desktop PC would be a USB Wireless Adapter.

I hope this helps.

Where to put the card in desktop

This card will not work in your desktop PC. This model does not support PCMCIA. You will need to get a different card for your desktop. One that supports PCI as this is the only expansion slot that you will have. (Also 1 PCIe). My recommendation would be to get a wireless G USB adapter that could easly plug in to the desktop via usb port. This way you will not have to take the case apart.

Where do I insert the Dynex card?

You insert the dynex pcmcia network card in a pcmcia slot, if your laptop has one.
If you don't find a place you can insert insert the card, that means that probably your laptopt does not have a pcmcia slot; maybe it gas a exopress card slot, smaller and more frequent in recent laptops.

Wireless help

My dear! alway remember that when you use any new hardware you should install driver first and then plug it with CPU. So it could be possible that when you install driver first then card will pick and work properly.
Thank You

Linksys WPC54G v2 code 10 error problem

Try using a different pcmcia slot if one is available. I hate to state the obvious but if there are no lights, something is wrong with pcmcia slot or the wireless adapter. Do you have any other pcmcia devices, if so verify that they work. If it works, something is wrong with the card. I have bought a brand new adapter before just to find out it was faulty. I chased my tail thinking something was wrong with my hardware just to find out it was a bad wireless adapter.
Hope this helps

Wireless card works, but can't get the computer but nothing no connection no internet

You can try this site:

Your card is actually a BritePort™ Wireless LAN PCMCIA Card 2020, which was marketed by Creative. It's made by Broadxent, which is a British company. Either write to Creative tech support and ask for the driver, or contact Broadxent.
