Yes, Your carburetor sounds like it needs cleaned. Or you may possibly need to purchase a carb. kit for your trimmer if the cleaning doesn't do any good. When cleaning the carb. use a Den Tek Brush, (teeth cleaning brush), to clean the small ports. Also, check the small screen in carb. Can get clogged easily.

Did this solve your problem "reseaere"? If not, then you will need to buy a carburetor kit and replace all appropriate parts: needle valve, gaskets, diaphragm, & small screen.

Ryobi 9600 backpack blower. Starts great. Set to run, continues running. Upon attempt to use throttle, engine dies. Acts like choking out but removed carb cover an choke is no closing.

this sounds strangely like the high speed jet/pathway in the carb is clogged up with something ,

the best way to fix it is dissasmbly and cleaning of carb in solvent , but ive also had some limited sucess in past of using car fuel cleaner (says on bottle "cleans as you drive") too

Gas Trimmer will not stay started

Many times with a gas mix, after sitting for a while, the mix separates and gums up the carb. Taking the carb off and soaking it overnight in a parts or carb cleaner and running carb cleaner through the tank and gas lines will cure this.

What causes it to flood out and die

Are you running a carb? If so then check to make sure the choke is fully off, also check to make sure that the vent hose from the carb isn't blocked, and also check your gas tank cap. The easy way to do this is to crack it open like you are going to take it off but just enough so that there is no restriction of air into the gas tank. Leave the cap on the tank. Start it and see what she does. Sometimes what acts like flooding out is actually fuel starvation

Also, how old is the gasoline that you are using? If it's over a month old drain it and put in fresh.
Has your bike sat without running for some time? If yes then the carb could be junky and need cleaning.
Have you put any aftermarket parts on it? If you have changed the exhaust pipes, the carb needs to be tuned to the new pipes and if you went to a K & N style airfilter that is going to mean carb tuning as well.

Another thing is to check for vacuum leaks on the back side of the carb to intake manifold, and intake manifold to the heads. Spray bottle with water will cause the engine to react with either a increase in RPM or a decrease in RPM at idle

If anybody has been into the carb then you may have an internal vacuum leak in the carb itself.

Check all the simple stuff first and go from there.

How to start a gas makita 14"concretemetal saw

The strarting procedure is much the same for all chainsaws/power cutters, switch the ignition on, pull the choke fully out, depress the deco valve if it has one, lock the half throttle button if fitted, crank the engine until it fires once ( it will not run at all on choke ), do not continue to crank after the first fire or you will flood it, push the choke fully back in, crank the engine until it starts.

After starting the 04 vulcan 800 i push in the choke and it dies. Is this a carb/plug problem or something else?

The machine is doing the right thing by dying. The role of the choke is to block the air intake and allow more gas to go into the carb. It is meant for starting a cold engine. If you apply choke to a running engine, it will flood the carb and cylinder and not allow it to ignite. The spark is enough to ignite a mixture os gas and air and not gas alone. Hence the engine dies. So give choke only when starting under cold/freezing conditions.
There is nothing wrong with your bike.

Was mowing starting cutting out and died wont start back it is flooding with gas.I cleaned the carb didint help

replace the spark plug first then go from there, try starting fluid if flooded but also as soon as it fires during starting pull back the throttle off choke sometimes you don't want to give the unit full throttle when starting 3/4 throttle is good enough

Ryobi ss30 weedeater,my weedeater seems to be flooded.need help

Give lots of details when describing the problem. When it started, was the choke on? If the choke is on, try starting it with the choke off, or starting it with the choke on and immediately taking the choke off when it starts, but keeping your fingers on the choke so you can turn it on again if the motor begins to die. As others have described, you have a problem with the mixture screws not being set right or the carb diaphram being damaged. Your owners manual may tell you what settings to start with on the mixture screws, or you may be able to google the model number and get the manual online if you don't have one. At this point you should have taken the carb apart to look for problems and blow out the air and fuel passages. You are making progress. At least you know that it is getting spark, and getting gas. I am not familiar with that model, but many of them have three settings for the choke, fully on, half on, and completely off. If you have that type, after it starts and dies, take out the plug and dry it, then try starting it with the choke half on. You will need to clear out the excess gas while you have the plug out.

Ryobi 790r i have changed the gas line and the primer bulb . the primer will mash in 1 good time and then gets very hard to mash in . i fully choke it and it will crank but only for 3 seconds until it...

You cannot flood the engine by pushing the primer bulb too much, unless the hoses are hooked up backwards. The primer does not push gas to the carb, it sucks gas through the carb and returns it to the tank. Top barb on primer is the hose coming from the return side of the carb and the bottom fitting is the hose going to the return fitting on the tank. Look inside tank, it is the one without the filter on it, just a flange with a hole in the center.

If you can see gas and air bubbles moving through the primer and into the tank the hoses are on correctly. If you see bubbles going in the correct direction and then reversing when you remove your finger from the bulb, then the check valves in the primer may be bad. Replace primer.

When you say the primer "gets hard to mash", do you mean it is hard to push in or is it very slow to refill and return to the home position? If it is hard to push in and the bulb is full of gas and the hoses are on correctly then there must be a plug in the line going to the tank or the vent in the gas cap is not working. If it does not return, then it is most likely a plugged filter, plugged line from the tank to the carb, plugged screen inside the carb or a stuck needle valve. The primer is creating a slight vacuum to pull the gas through the carb, which is what the carb does when the engine is running. If there is a full or partial restiction on the supply circuit neither the primer nor the carb can pull enough gas for the engine to run. May need to disassemble carb and clean out any varnish, gunk or plugged ports/jets. Use spray carb cleaner. May want to think about a diaphagm and gasket kit if you do it yourself. If you do not feel confident in taking apart the carb, then take to a repair shop.
