I have a holmes desk fan i need to know how to wire the moter uip

Check the ohm reading across pairs of wires.
Buy cheap multimeter at home world, install battery, set to read ohms : upside down horseshoe is ohms.
You have a non reversing 110volt motor.
One pair of wires goes goes to start winding, for starting the motor spinning, and these wires will have higher ohm reading.
Other pair of wires goes to run winding, that keeps fan at motor speed.

Need to know which way to put the seal in 1998 harley softail front fork seals installation

In nearly ALL oil seal installations, the "lip" of the seal goes against the liquid flow. The lip faces the oil to prevent it from coming out. If you look at the seal, you will see a "solid side" and an "Open side". Looking from the open side into the seal, the inner diameter of the seal is the "lip". This lip goes in facing the oil or down into the fork leg. Solid side of the seal goes towards the lock ring.
