omg! I have the camera and had the same problem.. ruined a Disney vacation... so I read this... search high and low for the camera.. finally find it..turn it on ... still has the white screen.. tap tap tap... nothing.. now I'm mad mine won't do what everyone else's would do.. so I do the aggravated taptaptapTAPTAPTAP.. and BANG! FIXED! I'll be a monkeys uncle! Thanks for the tap.. err.. tip even .. ;) Even though this means my husband won't be buying me a new one lmao

  • Anonymous Aug 02, 2008

Had exactly the same problem. At first the screen was filled with flickering lines, then it turned all white and would look like that whenever the camera was on. The camera worked fine otherwise. The problem first appeared in the Swedish woods, so certainly no relation to the USB connection to a computer. Amazingly, pushing the four arrows and the centre button fixed the problem (at least temporarily). Fantastic! Thank you!!

When I turned my cybershot on, the screen was bright white. I called tech support and they wanted me to send it in right away. I decided to do some internet research and found this great website. Many of the people on here had the same exact problem! One solution was to hit the camera on the side and sure enough, my camera works!! This is craziness! I really cannot believe it!! Thank you.....this website just saved me a couple hundred dollars. ~Genna : )

I had the exact problem. My camera's screen turned white a few months ago. I was getting ready to take it in to get it fixed. When I heard everyone saying "hit it a few times", I thought they were nuts. But then I thought...what could it hurt. And it blew me away when it actually worked lol. Thanks guys! Great suggestion :-)

I have been facing the same problem for the last two years and I press the camera by thumb and it works. I know whether the problem is. I received a detailed solution for this. To apply the the solution one has to open the camera. But I had never opened the camera. I have posted detailed about the solution regarding this under 'Blank screen' in this forum. If anybody interested to see whether exactly the problem is, send me an email.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ACTUALLY WORKED!!! At first, when I tapped the Sony Logo, the camera shut off. But then, suddenly the screen turned on and I realized that it was stuck in the time section of the menu. That's why I couldn't take pictures!

WOW!! Thank you for the incredible cost-saving solution! I was about to plunk down $120 for a repair!

Thank you very much!I had the same problem and just tapped the cybershot logo and my screen came back!
Si su camara tiene la pantalla en blanco permanentemente, dele un golpe ligero a la parte delantera de la camara, donde dice Cyber/shot, y listo!

If you don't want to beat on your Camera, you can try using your thumb to push all 5 of the center buttons at once...the four arrows and the round center button. This worked for me, although so did the rapping on the LOGO!

By the way, this problem first exhibited after I unplugged the USB connector before"disconnect deviceing" in XP...

Had exactly the same problem. After giving the camera a few knocks, the screen came on again but it looked like one of those broken arcade machine screens. Colors all weird. I tried giving it a slap on the Cybershot logo as suggested and Tada!! Its working 100% again! thanks for the great tip!!

As crazy as it sounds, hold the camera with your left hand, with your right hand a few quick wraps on the Cybershot logo, and the screen will come back on.  I found another thred on the internet and this is happening to hundreds of cybershot camera owners.  It really works!

Sound like a problem with your LCD screen, related with the CCD Image Sensor; since that you can view mode and setting displays, isnt the LCD screenviewer.

The CCD Image Sensor isnt a job that you can do it, I suggest visit your techinician service or apply if has underwarranty.

Good luck.

When taking pictures outside the view screen after picture taken appears as a bright burst of white light. Inside picture appear fine. Any ideas?

let me see if i understand. if you llok at the screen it looks ok, but after you take the picture it will record only a white bright image.....

in some cases you can easily fix this by goining into your camera option and restoring default settings. it is the exposure setting .

if you camera still giving you just black white images the light sensor in the machine ahs gone bad, it needs to be replace.

I have had the same problem with my F-700

After calling Fujifilm Custom support here in Spain, I've noticed that camera series had a common failure at CCD SENSOR, NOT THE SCREEN.

IF THE PROBLEM IS CCD (IMAGE SENSOR) FUJIFILM WILL REPAIR IT FOR FREE!!!!

I AM NOT KIDDING. I'RECEIVED A MAIL FROM FUJI SPAIN ABOUT THAT

ALSO CHECKED THAT AT FUJIFILM USA THEY REPAIR IT FOR FREE

I guess the problem is CCD (at least in mine) because:

1- Started with
intermitent colour distorsions (dissapearing from time to time)
2- The problem became more frequent as time passed by
3- THE IMAGE IS PERFECT WHEN I PLAY PICTURES FROM THE MEMORY CARD

GOOD LUCK !

I don't know if you stil have the camera in question, since this is a fairly old post.

I've just tried to make this happen with my MPVR and even turning LCD brightness and Exposure all the way up doesn't result in this unless I'm pointing the camera out a window at bright daylight. If you aren't able to access your menus I'd say something's gone wrong with your camera.

You could try posting at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/forums/view_forum.php?id=92
to see if anyone there has heard of this.
