I have acer travelmate 2414 and it has a combo drive it says on the drive DVD+R DL so this means it should read dual layer disc but it isn't can some please help me.

- I've downloaded every Apple update and LaCie Update tool. It tells me that I'm up to date. LaCie shows in my System Profiler. When I insert bought movie, computer does not recognize it, no Icon. When I insert Blank disk to record iDVD movie I've created, it is ejected, I've tried Fuji, Memorex, Nexxtech, TDK, even the LaCie disk that came with the Burner. Nothing shows up on the screen and the disk is ejected. My iMac G5 has built-in CD burner, maybe there's a conflict, can't find it, there is no error message, and no screen icon that shows something is in Burner. tr updating the drivers or if you trying to watch dvd etc make sure you have dvd rom loaded into your machine then you drive should work. a program such as power dvd will take care of this problem for you and even though you may not wantto use this program to watch dvds by having it installed you will be able to use your reader writer to its full potential, hope this helps please rate me
