The freezer vents are electricaly controled as is with most of your refrigerator. Inside the fresh food compartment there is a control board part number 12868513 this may be the reason for the problems you are having. I am placing a link for your refrigerator below. Place the model number in the model search feature. This takes you to some models just the same as yours, just choose one. On the left of the screen click on controls. there you will see the part I mentioned. Yor freezer is also not defrosting properly also and this is most likely the control board. Let me know what you find and if you have other questions, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Refrigerator not cooling freezer works fine blower motor in rear of unit on but turning slowly

Since the freezer is fine, you are in good shape. Pull off the back cover inside the freezer to inspect the evaporator coils. You should see a light frost pattern. If it is heavily frosted, then you have a open heater element - located at bottom of evaporator. If heater is good and you have heavy frost buildup, replace motherboard and thermistor which is clipped to the top of the evaporator.

Bottom of refrigerator is not cooling

Hi: Is your freezer so full it's blocking the vents? If so unblock the vents. If not put your food in a cooler, frozen and fresh. Unplug your refrigerator. Take a hair dryer to the back of the freezer to melt frost accumulated behind the panel. I know it's supposed to be frost free. You have a problem with the defrost heater or the timer. The frost is blocking the vents. Most likely it is the later, but if you see no frost it could be the circulating fan. The location of these will be in your parts list. Kenmore still gives these with their products. If you don't have it go to and use parts direct. They will have a diagram. I hope this helps, Jeff By the way, If you are not handy just do the hair dryer thing and it will work for a weed or two until the frost plugs it up again.

Freezer Side is fine bit refrigerator side isn't cooling. Vents have been cleaned.

Pretty common problem among refrigerators. Look to see if you have frost on the rear wall of the freezer just above the lower basket. If you see frost on the rear panel, it most likely has about 3 to 4 inches full of frost on the coils behind that panel. If it does, you will have to remove the lower rear panel, and defrost the coils until they are clean, just like it was at the factory new. Once those are cleaned of frost, you should replace the defrost heater at the bottom of those coils. Some GE's have a kit that has a heater and a defrost thermostat all in one, and some do not. Some only come with just a heater replacement. If it comes only with the heater, you must also order a defrost thermostat, which is positioned above the coils, also. They both MUST be changed.

The other thing is to make sure that the fan inside of your freezer is working properly. The fan motor, and the defrost heater assembly are very common problems. Your refrigerator will work fine if you find out frost was the problem here, because the fresh food side gets its cold from the freezer side. If it is plugged with frost, the fan can't push air through the coils to the fresh food side. Hope this helps.

Warm fridge

If you are sure the fan is running either the damper motor (vent in fridge section) is bad and not opening or there is ice in the return vents and not letting air circulate. Take out the bottom drawers in the fridge and look down the two return vents in each corner with a flashlight. If they are iced up the top will not cool.
