Just installed additional 512 MG of RAM now computer will not bootup and keyboard will not work.

I just installed 512 additional RAM on my desktop and then tried to boot it up. The keyboard does not work and it won't boot up. Just a black screen with computer info on it. Could I disconnect something when I installed the memory?

I took out the newly installed RAM that did not work and went back to original. It worked fine. I then took out the old RAM and installed the new RAM in the same slot and then installed the old RAM in new slot. This seemed to work. Thanks for all the ideas.

It's most likely not seated correctly or it's incompatible with your pc or it may be that it has to be similar in size to previously installed ram ... I suggest removing the ram you put in and rebooting ... if this gets you back up and running, then you may try installing this ram and leaving the other out... let me know how it goes... and if I can help further..

Did you take the memory out and then see if it works with the old memory setup. Most likely either the RAM is not compatible or defective.
Thanks and enjoy,

Did you check the total maximum ram that the motherboard can handle. Not unless the chip was faulty.

My T5212 computer doesn't see the 1gb of ram, why?

The RAM mybe be faulty or incompatible/wrong type for your computer.
Check the specification of the RAM that is required for your computer.
If you want to install 2 off 512 Mb RAM make sure the are the same make and model.

Computer does not recognize going from 3 mg to 4 mg of memory

If the two 512 meg sticks still work in the same slots, then you either got bad memory or some that is incompatible. Return the memory to were you picked it up, and get a different brand. Also double check that your are using the correct memory for your system. This infomation can be looked up on most memory manufature websites (example: Crucial or Centon).

Hope this helps

How can we check that ram is working properly or not

dear atul.
if the ram is not working then your PC will not boot at all. If it is booting then there is no problems with the ram.
one possiblilty with ram not working properly is that it will show the wrong amount of RAM in the system information, like if you have installed 512 MB of Ram and it is showing 356 or less then there is a problem, but you have to be sure that you installed 512 MB of Ram. this could be due to FSB speed.

To check this goto Control Panel > System > "General Tab"
here you can see all your computer specifications like
1 Which windows are you using
2 whom is it registered to.
3 Processor, Type, Speed, RAM etc.

if it is not showing the correct amount try changing it with a new one.

Thanks

Memory upgrade: the factory 1mg RAM appears to be in two slots of 512MB each. If so, where can I find these huge monsters. I ordered a 1 MB chip and it's half as long as the 512 MG installed in my PC....

According to Acer's specifications for the T690, you need DDR2 RAM, which is quite commonly available. From your description of the RAM you got, I suspect you wound up with laptop RAM instead of desktop memory

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding vendors of the type RAM you need. Just look for DDR2 type, PC4200 (533 MHz) or PC5400 (667 MHz) speed, desktop RAM. Here's a link to one vendor (TigerDirect) so you can see typical memory and pricing. If you're not in the US, you should be able to find a seller in your part of the world.

I got a emachines T1120 desktop pc it have 512 memory all i want to know if i can put 2 512 memory in it will it work?

The easiest way to see what kind of memory and the amount of memory your computer can handle is to go to the Crucial Memory website (www.crucial.com) and click on the Scan my System. It will tell you the number of slots your system has, the capacity of each slot, and the type and speed of RAM that can be used.

All 6 usb hubs on dell dimension E51 desktop stopped working

Motherboard is bad especially if the slots on the motherboard aren't detecting cards. You might want to try another keyboard in the other USB ports just to be sure but the motherboard is still probably going to be bad.

Sdram capacity

its that 512 mb total capacity for your computer memory?? if so read this:
To find the total amount of RAM that can be added , subtract the amount of RAM currently in the computer from the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold. For example, a computer has 256 MB of RAM. If the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold is 512 MB, then 256 MB is the amount of RAM that can be added. this info from the HP website , to find out more , go to http://www.hp.com/support , enter the model number , and look for more information about your computer specs, hope this helps , please rate & thanks AJ
