Just installed additional 512 MG of RAM now...

I just installed 512 additional RAM on my desktop and then tried to boot it up. The keyboard does not work and it won't boot up. Just a black screen with computer info on it. Could I disconnect something when I installed the memory?

- I took out the newly installed RAM that did not work and went back to original. It worked fine. I then took out the old RAM and installed the new RAM in the same slot and then installed the old RAM in new slot. This seemed to work. Thanks for all the ideas.

It's most likely not seated correctly or it's incompatible with your pc or it may be that it has to be similar in size to previously installed ram ... I suggest removing the ram you put in and rebooting ... if this gets you back up and running, then you may try installing this ram and leaving the other out... let me know how it goes... and if I can help further..

Did you take the memory out and then see if it works with the old memory setup. Most likely either the RAM is not compatible or defective.
Thanks and enjoy,
Lee

did you check the total maximum ram that the motherboard can handle. Not unless the chip was faulty.
