Question about Compaq Armada 7400 Notebook
I am trying to use my compaq presario v3000 and have it play through my tv using an s cable. it starts and shows by background on the tv then goes to a blank screen. what can i do?
Some laptops have a "Fn" button (function) which basically acts like another alt key. On my dell laptop, it's blue, and all blue icons on the keys represent something that happens when I press the "Fn" button with that key. For instance there's a little picture of a monitor on the F5 key, and when I press Fn + F5 it automatically searches for a plugged in monitor (or TV). See if your laptop has a similar function. Maybe look in the manual?
The second solution I have for you, is (for windows xp) right click on desktop, go to properties, then go to the settings tab. See if there are two monitors, if there are choose the TV (probably the one that's not selected) and choose "use this as my default monitor" or "extend my windows desktop to this monitor" if you want to also use your laptop monitor at the same time.
If none of those worked, make sure your TV is set to the right input. (some newer TVs have 8 or more inputs, so try cycling through them all).
If all else fails, it could be that your s-video card needs drivers. If this is the case let me know and I'll see if I can help you out.
