Question about Sony PlayStation® 3 (60 GB) Console
My playstation 3 wont play and discs. It only shows disc loading icon in top corner. Can i fix it myself somehow??
I don't think this is a problem that you can tackle at home. There are two home remedies that may help the problem, at least for a little while, but ultimately, I think that it's going to have to be sent in for repairs.
1. You can remove your Hard Drive (HDD). BE WARNED! Only do this if your console is out of warranty! If it is still under warranty, doing this will VOID the warranty. On the left side of your console is a small door. this door will lead you to the HDD. You'll need to take out the blue screw, first. All you're going to do pull it out, then immediately re-insert it. This action may be of some help.
2. Re-formatt the HDD. With a solid red light showing, hold down both the power & eject buttons. You're going to hear a single beep, then a double beep. Once you hear the double beep, release both buttons. You'll get a message on your TV saying "connect your controller using USB". Following all the instructions will lead you to a 6 item menu. You are going to choose number 3. If that option doesn't work, pick number 6. BE WARNED!!! Number 6 will delete ALL of your saved memory! I know that really sucks, but this may be the only way to save your console short of repair. You can "back-up" your saved data using a "USB storage device" Like a memory stick or even your iPod.
If none of this works, or the console won't let you do the "double button" thing, it'll need to be repaired. You can contact PSR repairs at www.psr1.com. They are really great! They do both warranty & non-warranty repair work for a very decent price. I hope I helped. Good luck, Darryl
