Gateway 405ROG Wireless Card Driver Problem

I own a Gateway 405ROG laptop and am installing drivers for the network cards. I got the wired to work but the wireless card isn't found. I've downloaded all the drivers from the gateway website and implemented them but to no avail. When I look in the device manager it shows "Network Controller" under Other Devices which require some sort of driver update. I can't seem to get the right one to apply. Please help! THank you.

I did but that program always fails me. I click "connect" and it just reverts back to the previous window with the "connect" button now grey and unpressable. I think I just found the solution. I went on Intels website and got the driver directly from there. Thank you for your help.

Did you try running the driver update tool from Gateway's website? These tools are usually pretty good with finding the drivers for the specific hardware of computers automatically for you:

An internal wireless card lets you access the Internet and a home or corporate computer network without the hassle of using an Ethernet or other type of network connection.

The wireless card grabs the communication signal flowing throughout the air and processes the signal through your Gateway PC's Windows operating system so you can access websites, email and related Internet-based services.

But like other devices in your computer, you must turn on the internal wireless card in your Gateway PC before using it.

Turn on your computer, if it is off.

Press and hold the "Fn" key on your computer's keyboard.
Press the "F2" key in the upper row of keys on your keyboard.

The wireless Internet card's connection utility will start searching for a wireless signal.
Connecting to a Signal

Click "Start," "Connect To."
If your Gateway PC is running Windows 7, click on the Windows symbol on the taskbar. Click "Control Panel," "Network and Internet," "View network status and tasks."

Click on the wireless connection you want to connect to.

If using Windows 7, click on "Connect to a network," then click on the wireless connection you want to connect to.

Click "Connect." Enter the wireless connection's network password (SSID), if prompted. Click "Next."

Click "Connect Anyway," if prompted with a message about the connection not being secure.

Click "Close." Open your Gateway PC's Internet browser or email application to start using the Internet connection.

My gateway laptop cant connect to the internet. _When I plug a cable, the red light in the port does not respond _ The WIFI does not respond

Hello John,
It seems that: 1. Your LAN controller and the WiFi controller could be disabled in your BIOS setup. To re-enable them, if applicable,
  • Press the F1(or F2 ) key repeatedly after restarting the computer to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate through your BIOS and locate the settings for LAN conroller and wireless, and select Enabled to enable them.
2. You may not have the appropriate drivers installed on your laptop for your network controllers. Upon further investigation, your laptop runs on the following network hardware:
  • ActionTec IEEE 802.11b network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94306 IEEE802.11g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94300 IEEE802.11a/g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
Download and install your drivers for the hardware above from: Wireless Drivers(Broadcom BCM94306) from http://www.soft32.com/download_175098.html Broadcom BCM94306 10/100Mbps LAN drivers from http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php
Hope this solution helps.Good day.

I reinstalled winxp sp3 on a gateway 450 rog. I was able to install all the drivers except the network controller and it also won't recognize the wireless adapter, any thoughts or ideas?

I had the same problem.
The "Network Controller" in my case had to do with the wireless network driver on my 450ROG.
None of the drivers that are available for 450ROG on the Gateway Support site worked correctly.
Here's what I did to solve the problem:
1. Flip the computer over. 2. On the back, you may see a little module that says "Fitted with Intel WM3B2100 802.11b". That's the built-in wireless network card (had no idea this computer had one, I inherited it). 3. Go to the Intel support site:http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ 4. Do a search for the "WM3B2100" driver. 5. Download and install the driver.
Fixed it for me!
Full info about the Gateway 450ROG is available at: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gateway/450ROG/3501353sp66.shtml This helped get me on the right track.

Courtesy of Gateway here is your driver for the network card:

http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?ref=step&st=browse&platform=10022&model=11417&os=10406&type=10095

Now here is where it gets tricky. I'm not sure what wireless network card you have there but on that page is a section that says other available downloadsm click on where it says "click here to view these results". There will be drivers for different network cards. I believe it will be the first one in the list, the broadcom one, if not then try any of the other wireless card drivers. Hope this helps you and sorry for the delay.

I cannot get my laptop to go wireless. My router is a LinkSys - the techs there say there is no problem with it. I used to have wireless prior to my computer having to be sent in to Gateway...the...

0) Be sure that your wireless router is working properly

1) Check your wireless card on your computer
See the status of the card
>>My PC>> right click Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Network

2) Check if your card (if it is PCMCIA Card) was installed correctly, if not installed again.
if you dont have the driver, get the driver of your card from manufacturer website (D-link, etc)

3) If your card is built-in check be sure that the power button is ON

4) Check if you have some or your wireless network available

5) If not renew your ip address

6) If you see the network, select your network and connect.

Let me know how it is going
