You can try enabling MouseKeys just to test. Use Left ALT+LEFT+SHIFT+NumLock to enable it then you can use the number pad to move the pointer.

If this works, you may need to try a new mouse and/or touchpad driver or try with a known-good mouse.

Hope this helps!

My dell ins iron cursor is frozen. All solutions I read talk about clicking on various items in control panel - how can I do that when cursor will not move?

To be able to click on control panel options when your cursor does not move would require an EXTERNAL mouse. On notebook PCs, you will need a USB mouse.
It's a;so possible to use just the keyboard by pressing TAB and the arrow keys to switch between icons but is very difficult. USB mouse is the way to go. Most likely, you will have to disconnect the USB mouse at some point during troubleshooting to test the touchpad.

Touch Pad can be disabled on two different ways. The first one is using FN+F9 key combination or using DISABLE option in mouse properties in control panel

Cursor frozen. turn on computer but cursor can't be moved.

Re-install your pointing device drivers (i.e., mouse, touchpad, etc.). You may need to use keyboard shortcuts to get this done so it might be tricky but not impossible.

Cursor(pointer) cannot be moved by using touchpad but possibe wit

Hi,

This happens to me also. Check whether the touchpad is enabled (laptops do have an option of enabling / disabling the touchpad). Secondly, you can try reinstalling the touchpad driver. Uninstall and then re-install the driver. Re-boot the system. Try using the touchpad.

Hope this helps., if so, rate me.. thanks - billa

Cursor is frozen and can;t move on my laptop

Plug in a USB mouse, and go to Contol Panel>system>device manager and click on the +sign next to pointing devices. Right click touchpad and uninstall the touchpad, then reboot the computer, remove the usb mouse. Windows will pick up the touchpad as new hardware and re-install the drivers for it etc..

I hope this helps
