Question about Averatec (620060HD) (620080HD) Hard Drive

1 Answer

Screen issue I have a Averatec 6200. When turning on I get the Windows logo and then the log in. Once logged in and the desktop comes together the screen turns black and I get a very, very faint screen (sort of like Burn in). I've plugged in a external monitor and it gives the same scenario. Windows login, login then no picture. What the???? This computer has the DVD player that does not need to have the computer on. Does the same thing, it will show picture for first 60 seconds then turns black. You can faintly see the mouse and programs coming on. Can anyone help?

I got all the way through to the highlighting of the adapter and the screen went black again. I shut the computer down and tried again, got all the way to logging in and then it went black. Seems the more I try the faster it shuts down. I had someone tell me it may be the video card?????? First time around, it did allow me to go into safe mode. It had "safe mode" in all 4 corners, whilst I got to "my computer," "manage," "device Manager," "display adapter", then highlighting the adapter, then poof she went dark.... Please help!!!!!!!!

Boot to Safe-Mode by pressing the "F8" key several times when you first see the windows logo screen. Answer "yes" to enter safe mode. "Right click" on "My Computer", select "Manage", then "Device Manager". Expand "Display Adapter" by clicking on the "+ sign" on the left side of Display Adapters. Highlight the Adapter listed under the Display Adapter line by "left clicking" on it. Then press the "right mouse button" and select "uninstall" to uninstall the display adapter. Now reboot you system (not safe mode) and see if it works. The display text may be very large now. If it works, you need to find your drivers cd that came with the computer and install the video driver using the above procedure but selecting "update driver" instead of "uninstall"

Just before the Windows logo screen appears press F8 and chose "Last Known Good Configuration", see what happens it might fix any driver related issue. If not you can try "safe mode" from the F8 menu and see does that boot.

Windows log on

You can try logging in as administrator.  As the computer starts up press 'F8' to get into the boot options and select 'Safe Mode with Networking".  Click on the administrator login, the password is blank unless you set one during installation.  Once in windows you can modify the user accounts in control panel.
Note:  If you have never used "F8" to get to the boot menu before the timing is a bit tricky.  If you see the windows logo you are too late. Try pressing "F8" several times instead of just holding it down

Averatec 6100 series closes all programs before i can open them

Try tapping either F5 or F8 (can never remember which) as soon as anything shows on the screen on boot. One of these will bring up a short menu with your available choices for boot.

My Averatec turns on to the logo screen but keeps resarting

dude heres the deal the blue screen is from a lack of ram simple as that. just add more ram and you shouldn't have that problem anymore. then when the computer starts up reset the page file to double the amount of your ram. that should get rid of the blue screen and you should have a running unit. if this doesn't work then you are best off reinstalling the OS.
