Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My Kenmore 90 series dryer's pilot light is out. What can I do? I have a Kenmore 90 series gas dryer and its not getting heat.  If I look at the igniter which is a carborundum igniter and I don't see any glowing or hear clicking when I turn the dryer to heat a run a cycle does this mean my igniter is bad?

Hi, You should first check the fuse. If the back comes off try this:
UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it. If the rear panel does not come off, please get me model # and I can assist you further.
Please let me know if this helps you.

Thanks
Vic

Kenmore 90 series gas dryer no heat

The gas ignitor most likley is not functioning. They do not have a pilot light like appliances in the oold days. They must ignite a new flame each use. if you don't smell gas when you try and use, then it is the ignitor and the computerized sensor tells the gas not to turn on because the initial flame has not been created.

I have an kenmore 600 series clothes dryer. It's about 1.5 years old. The dryer tumbles. gas and electric are on but no heat.

It is most likely the element if it is an electric dryer. If it is a gas dryer be sure that the pilot light is on for the gas at the valve. Also this machine is most likely under warranty so check it out.
I am 90 % sure that is an electric dryer so I would check to see that one of your breakers for the dryer are not tripped as one can run the dryer but it needs two to get the heat running as it runs on 220 volt.

It could be several other things thermal fuse, thermal cut out, hi limit thermostat, dryer coils, heat sensor,or igniter. All of these parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at t http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html his will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

My Kenmore 60 series gas dryer will not heat up. I checked the lint trap and it is clean. How do I open the front panel to check the pilot light?

Some dryers have a small inspection hole covered by a small platic cap.
Remove cap and look inside unit for pilot. Newer dryers have an igniter that glows when the dryer is turned on. It ignites the gas then goes out.

Kenmore 90 series propane gas dryer

Hi, You should not have a pilot light, There are electronic ignitors on the dryers. Unless this dryer is 40 years old, just start the dryer and the heat should come on.
If the heat does not work, there must be another issue.
Please let me know if I can help you further.

Thanks
