Center of screen black

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

The sensor is located on the center CRT mount ( green CRT ) just remove the screen assembly and you will see the small circuit board on the Center CRT ( picture Tube) it looks like the pic below,

is it a blank black 4 inch screen? can you boot your computer and when you see it press print screen on your keyboard and open up your paint program and press ctrl + v and save the picture and post it here.

Please visit service center. as per my knowledge the lens is disconnected from the cable internally which is broadcast the image. With out and staff and knowledge you can't fix it at home.

This is the closed captioning text box. Search the menus to turn off closed captioning. The reason for its seemingly random appearance is that not all channels nor all programs provide this service.

Sounds like the middle scalar board is defective. Since the issue comes and goes it could just be a loose connection to the between the scalar board and the PDP Module (plasma panel).

Great caution needs to be taken when checking this connection because it is a ribbon cable connection it and needs to be put in correctly aligned or it could cause a short in one of the circuit boards.

if the picture shrink into the center of the screen about 4inch then goes blank. you do have problem with your vertical drive IC, it's either loose contact with the board or the vertical IC already malfunction.

turn off the closed captions or set the feature to c1 to view. they are set to text now.

Yes, you do need to get the LCD repair before the warranty expires. Call the manufacturers to find an authorized service center near you.

I have the exact problem. I came on slowly, some days it would work, some days it wouldnt. Finally i couldnt get it working at all. Sent it back to Kodak as it was still under warranty, the repair center claims it was "physical damage". They admit that the camera shows no evidence of falling or banging but it doesnt matter. The camera was lightly used only by my wife, she took good care of it. I'm currently fighting with Kodak, they are requesting photos from the repair center, so they claim. I think its lost cause, but we'll see.
