My Sceptre X30SV had no power. I unscrewed the panel where the power supply is (in the back of the tv) and unplugged the power brick. Shortly after I plugged it back in and it has worked for the past 24 hours. I'm thinking my power supply is on its way out. I have purchased a voltage meter, how do I go about testing the power brick?
Thanks for your help in advance!

This could well be a common problem related to lousy electrolytic capacitors in the supply.
Do what you must to be able to see the tops of parts with aluminum tops, cylindrical in shape and primarily oriented perpendicular to the board.
Check them visually to see if any (normally more than one) have bulging tops.
These are bad.
If you find this problem, comment back and I will help you further.

Check your Power Supply panel for proper voltages.

You may have to open it to see if the line fuse that the power cord goes to is good or bad.

I have a sceptre x37 and i forgot my password. how do i reset or obtain it?

Hi, If you have forgotton your password, I suggest that if it happens again that you write it down some where. Try unplugging it for 30 minutes that should reset it to factory settings. Good luck.

The blue power light just binks when it's plugged in, the power button doesn't even have to be pressed. is that the power supply or the logic board? (already ruled out inverter board)

Check the power supply board for those dead capacitors. It alway have bulges up on it tops or puff up on it tops.Replaced those dead gases leakages capacitors.Than,it is the power supply board it dead power supply board. No,capacitors bulges up on it tops or puff up on it tops. The logic Tuner board is dead.

My SCEPTRE X37 is making a distortion noise when turned on the volume works but not with out a humming sound ?

Wondering how old the set is?
Is it still under warranty - if it is - take it in right away and get it fixed.
If not - my thoughts is that you are going to have a problem with the power supply soon. This usually is an indication that something 'not good' is happening to either your main power supply or the Florescent back lamps ballast power supply. My thoughts are bad Capacitors that are drying out. This happens on many of these types of LDC flat panels.

Sceptre power supply short circuit

I have the same problem. TV was JUST out of warranty. Sceptre part number is X37SV-Naga and the cost - $285.00 plus $20 shipping. Non-refundable, no returnable.

The TV is of course going to de-solder the board within a year again, so either a good heat sing on both thermistors is in order OR a law suit against Sceptre is in order for putting us a risk of fire.
