Screen goes blank right after power up

When I turn on the monitor the screen comes on correctly for about 1 second. After that the screen looks almost black. If you look closely there is a very faint picture but I cannot get the screen to come on properly. What could be the problem? How would it be corrected? I bought the monitor at a garage sale so I do not have a history on it.

Same symptom with mine. Turned out it was NOT the monitor, but the stand-alone power supply. Once the display fully powered on, the supply would cut out, apparently unable to drive current needed. I stole 12V from the computer's power supply and have no problems. Your display is fine.

TRY HOLDING THE F8 KEY WHILE BOOTING AND COME UP IN SAFE MODE. IF YOU CAN SEE THE DESKTOP IN SAFEMODE THE RIGHT CLICK ON AN EMPTY SPACE ON THE DESKTOP THEN CLICK PROPERTIES AND LOWER THE RESOLUTION. ALSO GO TO YOUR COMPUTERS WEB SITE AND USE THEIR VIDEO DRIVERS FOR YOUR VIDEO INSTEAD OF WINDOW DRIVERS.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

The screen goes blank after 5 seconds

Make sure you have the correct drivers install for you video card. Also, check to make sure your resolution is not set to high for you video card. To get to resolution; right click on Desktop > click Properties > press Settings Tab, from there you can move the slider to change your screen resolution (try different resolutions until it doesn't shut off anymore).

Let me know.

Screen comes up for about 10 seconds, then goes blank

Hello Robert,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Video cards that can handle two monitors at the same time have cables with two plugs on the monitor end.

If your video cable has two plugs on the monitor end, try the other plug.
