Hi I am Vortash and slightly confused do you mean the metal housing holding the power supply are there wires approx 12 of them coming out of the same box the fan is in ? if so you are talking about the power supply cooling fan and it would be cheaper and easier to just buy a new power supply as by the time you pay an engineer to take it out and replace it you could have purchased one for half the price .. Not too sure if this is ? the fan you mean but hope this helps ... Regards Vortash

You don't change the fan. That is the power supply. That should be the box that the power cord runs into on the back. You may want to find a qualified pc repair technician in your area. I would recommend geek squad but their prices are high. You can pick up a replacement online for about 30$.
Thanks,

How do I remover the cover?

A) You post the model number of the Dell computer.

This is found probably right around that Power On button, but I can't see it clearly in this video.

Look at the Back of the computer.

Post back in a Comment.

B) If I were guessing it would be Dell Dimension 2300, or
Dimension 2350,

http://www.adverts.ie/desktops/dell-dimension-2300-printer-and-wireless-keyboard/2078459

If this holds to be true the Left Side Panel removes.
Looking at the Front of the computer, is how left; and right are determined.

Thumbscrew is approximately 3 inches down, from the left rear top corner.
Thumbscrew is loosened all the way. Isn't supposed to remove, but sometimes they do. (Small clip on screw comes off)

Once Thumbscrew is loosened all the way, pull back on the Side Panel.
There is a molded fingerpull in the left Side Panel, at the back.

If memory serves there are Tabs with a hooked end, that protrude from the Top edge of the Side Panel, and Bottom edge of the Side Panel.

Think of them like a J.
They protrude through slots in the metal framework, of the computer case.

Do to the hooked end the Side Panel only slides so far back, then stops. This is because the hooked end, is stopped in the slot/s.

Push the Side Panel just a little Forward, (Towards front of computer), then pull Side Panel straight out.
Lay aside.

Also FOLLOW Anti-Static Procedures before reaching inside your computer. Failure to do so will result in an expensive conversation piece.

"Yeah, I forgot to follow Anti-Static Procedures, and Static shocked the hardware components inside.
I think it looks good with those plants on it, don't you?"

Your body carries Static electricity.
(You can develop over 75,000 volts, and that may be a low estimate)
Relieve your body of Static BEFORE reaching inside your computer.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open;
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.
This action will relieve your body of Static.

IF, you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

May I ask what the problem is?

HOW TO CHANGE THE IN CABIN FILTER ON A CHRYSLER 200

All of the older answers are incorrect. Open the glove box. Remove everything from the glove box and set it aside. On the right and left sides of the glove box, there are some rubber stoppers. Simply push inward on the sides of the glove box toward the center so that you can open the glove box beyond the point where the rubber stoppers stop it.

After opening the glove box all the way (past the rubber stoppers) look inside, just above the blower unit. There are arrows on the left and right end of a rectangular black cover. Push the release tabs which the arrows point to, and remove the cover. Pull the filter out.

Install the new filter, and put the cover back in place by snapping it on as you found it. Push the sides of the glove box toward the center, and close the glove box. Open it as you normally would, and put your stuff back in the glove box.

Open emachines el1352g-41w

Open the eMachines EL1352G-41W computer case?

Unplug the computer from power. Unplug all cables. Turn the computer tower around so the back faces you.

Look at the Left side. This Side Panel removes.
There is a handle for your fingers, formed out of the Side Panel's sheet metal.

Above the handle along the edge, and towards the Top, there is a Philips head screw. Loosen this screw. (It isn't supposed to come all the way out)
Down below the handle, and towards the bottom, is another Philips head screw. Loosen this screw.

Use the handle in the Side Panel, to pull back on it. Pull towards the back of the computer tower.

The Side Panel may only pull back so far. There may be tabs which stick out of the Side Panel, and go into slots in the computer tower's case.

For this style the Side Panel will only pull back approximately 1 inch, or so.
Then the Side Panel is brought straight out away from the computer tower, and laid aside.

[ NOTE*
Do NOT forget to observe Anti-Static Precautions BEFORE reaching inside your computer, and working on it.

I have emachine W3609

I went back to your first posting Barbara, to see what the problem is with your eMachines W3609 Desktop PC.

Computer crashed. Windows Vista with a fatal error.

Do you have the Restoration Disk, or did you make one? (Usually asked by Windows when the computer is new, and started up for the first time. Backup)

If so turn the computer on, open the optical drive's tray, and put the disk in. Close the tray.
When asked click on Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)

No Restoration Disk, or you did not make a backup?

Let's go past the software problem, and concentrate on what could be a hardware problem.
(A hardware problem can cause a lot of seemingly software problems)

The two main problems with a Desktop PC is that it's dirty inside, and/or a bad Power Supply.

No slight against eMachines, but they are a budget computer. As such, they use low quality parts in some instances.
eMachines always use a low quality Power Supply.

1) Computer dirty inside.

Computer on a table unplug the power to it. Open the computer case,

Looking at the Front of the computer the Left side panel removes.
Looking at the Back of the computer, and at the left Side Panel, note the two Thumbscrews.
One towards the top, and one towards the bottom.

These are loosened. They are not supposed to come out, and be removed. They stay with the Side Panel.
Note the formed 'bump' at the end of the Side Panel. This area is for your fingers to hold onto.
The Side Panel is pulled back a little, then lifted up, and out. Lay it aside.

(The Side Panel has metal protrusions which slide into slots in the computer case.
The panel is pulled back a little, then the protrusions will clear the slots in the computer case)

Now follow Anti-Static Precautions

Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity.
Always work on a computer on a table. NOT on a bed, couch, or directly on a carpet floor.
High areas of Static electricity.
Refrain from swinging your legs, especially if your table is on a carpeted floor.

Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the delicate hardware components inside a computer.
Relieve your body of Static BEFORE reaching inside.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open.
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.
This action will relieve your body of Static.

Should you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

Use a can, or two of compressed air for computers, and clean the inside of the computer out.
You may wish to wear a dust mask.
Put the plastic straw provided on the side of the can, into the nozzle at the top of the can.
Break the plastic lock tab off of the top of the nozzle.

Keep the can as level as you can, while spraying air.
Start at the top inside left corner. Spray air across to the top inside right corner.
Spray air as a professional paint sprayer would spray paint.
Squeeze the trigger in all the way when you start. Let go of the trigger when you reach the other side.

Now drop down a space, and start again. Keep dropping down, and spraying across in rows.
You will see a fan sitting on top of a finned Heatsink.
This is the Processor fan.
Pay special attention to the fan, and finned Heatsink.
These two items need to be very clean.

You may wish to use Q-tips to disturb the dust/dirt. Just break the 'crust' so the air can remove the dust/dirt.
(You are just lightly moving across with the Q-tip. This breaks the solidified 'crust', and allows the air to remove it more easily)

When you reach the bottom of the computer case, you may wish to tilt the top of the computer towards you slightly, then use air to remove the dust/dirt at the bottom of the computer case.

The Power Supply also needs a little cleaning. Go to the back of the computer. Where the power cord plugs in is the Power Supply. Clean the fan blades, center hub of the fan, and it's surrounding cage. (Shroud)

Try using the plastic straw inserted into the Power Supply, past the blades of the fan. Use air at the top, and come down. It isn't easy, but do the best you can.

{ HOLD onto the plastic straw with one hand, and the can of air with the other hand. The plastic straw can shoot off, and land inside the Power Supply, if you do not }

Come around to the inside of the computer again, and to the case of the Power Supply.
On this end the Power Supply will have ventilation holes, or slots.
Insert the plastic straw a little into a hole, or slot, towards the top of the Power Supply's case.
Spray air moving back, and forth.

Now go down to a lower hole, or slot, unless there are only ones at the bottom. If so, go to the ones at the bottom. Spray air again. Move the straw around from left to right.
You won't get the inside of the Power Supply perfectly clean, but you will do a LOT of good.

When using the can of compressed air for computers, you will note that after a while the air pressure drops. This is because moisture is freezing in the straw, and nozzle.
Simply set the can down, and allow it to warm up for a while.

After you are satisfied the inside of the computer is as clean as you can get it, allow the computer to sit open for 5 to 10 minutes.
This will allow any moisture developed from the can of air, to dissipate.

Now close the computer case, and plug the computer back into power.
WAIT 1 minute, then turn the computer on.

Post back your findings in a Comment.

joecoolvette

Excessive noise when a/c blower fan on high, runs fine on medium or low. how do i get to the fan blower compartment to clean out any debrie?

Need to turn the glove box door upside down. To do this, there is a metal "S" shaped part in an opening on the left side of the glove box when open. Stick your finger in there and release this spring loaded metal piece, the door will now fall down. From the bottom, you need to remove the plastic kick guard below the glovebox to access from the bottom.

My dell dimension E310 had a burning smell shut down now it has an orange light and won't go on

Something has short-circuited and burned.
It could be the power-supply.
It could be the motherboard.
Disconnect the AC power, and remove the side-panel.
Look for burnt wires, or other damage.
Then, take the desktop computer to a computer-store, and get them to trouble-shoot, and to suggest replacement parts.

I have a 5200 desktop gateway i need to pull the

As you face the computer the Left side comes off.

Computer off, and unplugged from power.

Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of five seconds, then let go.
This is to drain residual power from the computer.

Come around to the backside of the computer.
On the right side of the computer, (Facing the back of the computer), there are two large Thumbscrews.

One towards the top along the right edge, one towards the bottom, of the right edge.

Turn each one to the Left to loosen, and loosen them all the way.
They may not come all the way out, of the edge of the cover.

On the side of the side panel cover, is an indention.
This is a place to put your fingers, and pull back on the cover towards the rear of the computer.
(Or pull towards you)

The side panel cover only slides back about an inch, then it is tilted out, and lifted up.
Set the cover aside.

BEFORE you reach inside your computer, Touch the metal frame of the open computer case.
This will relieve your body of Static electricity.

Your body carries Static electricity, and Static will fry out the delicate computer hardware components, inside a computer.

Computer unplugged from power, you are safe.
Touch the metal frame, your computer is safe.

(Additionally; If you get up in the middle of working on your computer, walk away then return: Touch the metal frame of the open computer case again)

How to Open a case

Acer Aspire RC900?

1) Computer off, unplug the power cable from the surge protector. Now unplug it from the computer (Power Supply)

(Unplugging the power cord from the back of the computer, while still plugged into the surge protector, may cause a voltage spike.

This could result in frying out the Power Supply, and may also fry out the Motherboard, Processor, Ram Memory, and Graphics)

2) Viewing the Acer Aspire RC900 from the Front, the Left side panel, is the panel that removes.

3) Viewing the Acer Aspire RC900 from the rear, look at the right side. (Left side actually, but now the computer is turned around)

There is a Cover Release Latch that is close to the outside edge, and towards the top.

It is whitish in color, and approximately 1-1/2 finger digits long, and half a finger digit wide.
(Universal measurement I figure. Using the Inch system it is approximately 1-1/2 inches long, and 1/2 inch wide)

Pull this Cover Release Latch to the right. (Towards the bottom of the computer if it were standing up)

You will see that this side cover, has a formed shape that you can put your fingers in, to pull the side cover towards the rear of the computer.

Pull the side cover back towards the rear of the computer to remove it.

Advise:

Your body carries Static electricity,
Static can fry out (Short Circuit) the hardware components inside a computer.

Touch the metal frame of the open computer case BEFORE you reach inside, to relieve your body of Static.
(Not shouting)

If you get up, walk away, then return, Touch the metal frame again.

Computer unplugged from power, you are safe.
Touch the metal frame of the open computer case, your computer is safe.

Have any more questions concerning this, I'm right here. Please post in a Comment.

How do you open a compaq presario sr1630nx computer to install memory upgrades

Viewing the back of your computer, you will see a large thumb screw, on the right side of the computer case.

It's to the right of that round ventilation opening. (Round shape with multiple holes in it)
Unscrew the thumb screw to the Left, to loosen it.

The side panel that the thumb screw is in, pulls back towards the rear of the computer.
If you look, there is a place to put your fingers at the end of the side panel.
(Raised 'Hump' in the sheet metal of the panel)

Hold the top of the computer case with one hand, pull the side panel back with the other hand.

NOTE*
The computer MUST be unplugged from power before proceeding!

Not only is there a possible issue for Your safety, but also the computer's!
You will fry out the Ram Memory stick/s if you remove, or install with the computer plugged into power.

Also,......there is an Anti-Static issue that needs to be addressed, BEFORE you reach inside your computer

Your body carries Static electricity.
Static will fry out the hardware components inside a computer.
(In a Flash!)

Work on a table. Computer unplugged from power, computer case open. TOUCH the metal frame of the computer case BEFORE you reach inside.

TOUCH the metal frame Before, you take those ram sticks out of their protective antistatic bags.

Should you get up for any reason, walk away, then return, Touch the metal frame again.

Refrain from touching the gold plated contact pins, on the bottom of the ram stick.
You can handle the ram stick anywhere, but on those contact pins.
The ram stick is coated with a see-through plastic.
The contact pins are not.

Should you need advice on how to remove, and install ram memory, please state so in a comment. (Top right of page)
