Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

My kenmore stopped cooling. Only inside light is on. Couple of days ago we had a short circuit in the main AC unit, which may have led to all this. Just wondering is there any fuse or something that i can change in the freezer

Below is a picture of where you may find the model number. Sears always uses number like 213.25897 Let me know also if you have power at the outlet where the fridge is plugged in. Thanks Sea Breeze

The short circuit may have damaged the start capacitor near the compressor. Your freezer also has a defrost timer that could have been damaged if so try to locate it and turn clockwises until the freezer starts. I am un able to find the timers location because its not shown on print. If this does not help I will help you go through each part until we find why the compressor will not start.

The capacitor is below the freezer and you will need to enter from back near floor. It also has a start relay attached to it and everything goes inside the black cover on the side of compressor. Do not take wire loose unless you mark them C= common R= Run and C= Common. I will soon try to send you some pictures. The timer, I don't know yet but Sears says there is one just no location shown.

The power surge when your AC shorted may have taken out the PC. If you have two connections try jumping them and this will cause the compressor to run continuous I know you don't have two but if I could see the part I could straight wire it. Call me 864-487-4851 ring 3 times and I will call you back if your phone sends caller ID

Most times the replacement parts are a little different. Just pay attention to the connections, instructions and don't force it in.

Does the compressor cycle on and off and can you see if the top of the compressor is hot to the touch or if warm as it should be. Need to know if the evaporator fan remains on when compressor runs. Sometimes a defective fan will run and stop when it wants to. Another possible reason is a defective start relay on the compressor. Start relay or start capacitor. If so this will show up as the top of compressor is getting hot because it will not always start. Also Feel the condenser coils they should always be warm when the freezer is working.

Sounds like Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

My LG 47SL8000 is turning on and off automaticly i tried to stop it but the only way is to click on the power button can you tell me what's wrong??

Surely there will be a short circuited component/s at its main board, which causes a heavy current flow, from its main power supply regulator board. Short circuit protection circuit inside the TV starts ON, and protects it from further damaging of components. That is happening now. Never turn it ON, until the fault have been rectified; otherwise, the things will go worse. Contact any service technician.
If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. Surf the site in "MOSAIC" view. It will make surf easy.

Hello

Sounds like the compressor is shuting down on high heat. There could be a couple reasons for this.
1 Check that proper voltage is being supplied to compressor.
2 Freon level may be low. This would be a service call.
3 Bad or intermitent connection at thermostat.
4 Main contacts to compressor sticking, usually burnt or pitted.

My system will not turn on

what brand of unit is it. lots of units thes days have a fuse on the circuit board that has the light on. sometimes the LED will stay light even with the fuse blown. also that LED is a fault light is it blinking? if it is blinking and not steady count the number of times it blinks then on the back of the cover panel their should be a list of faults. to reset the unit turn off the power to it for 10 sec then back on.

There is a capacitor connected to the motor on the compressor. If it fails, the motor won't start and the safety thermal cutoff will stop voltage at the motor terminals. There are fuses inside the power interrupt box on the side of the outside unit. One of them may have blown
