1 Answer

No power I have a maytag dryer model mdet236ayw. Today is decided not to turn on at all. There is power at the outlet, but the dryer is totally dead. Is there a reset button of somekind or is it more of a power supply gone bad issue?

First place to check is the door switch...it works the light inside, but it is also a safety switch... the door has to be closed for the dryer to recieve power... if the switch isn't "clicking" when you press it by hand or with the door shut, then it's most likely the switch. try this first... let me know what you find out..

No heat from dryer maytag atlantis mde7600ayw had heating element them fuse and thermostat checked ok check ciruit breaker turn on and off decided to replace fuse dyer still didn't heat check outlet...

most dryers have a thermal switch or breaker in the cavity somewhere, they can become worn over time and will stop heating, the item probably looks like a copper arm that touches a contact similar to a old morse code key by looks

Drum Will not turn

you probably have a broken drum drive belt. They are not a difficult do-it-yourself job.

Your local appliance parts outlet should have the belt.

Dryer belt routing on Maytag dryer model MDET236AYW

With the drum removed, loop the belt around the drive motor an run both strands of the belt under the tension pulley. You have to be carefull on getting the drum back in place while working the belt back on a LITTLE AT A TIME. Once installed verify the belt is not caught on anything and you should be good to go.

Dryer not venting properly

Unplug the dryer.
Raise the top lid.
Remove the front panel.
Inspect the blower wheel attached to the motor.
It is probably turning on the shaft.
If so, replace the blower wheel.

If not, dig the lint out of the vent between the wheel and the rear of the dryer.

I have a maytag dryer Model #: MDET236AYW and I would like to change out the existing 3-wire dryer cord to a 4-wire dryer cord. Presently there are 2 wires attached to the dryer frame and 3 wires connected...

A 4 wire cord should be hooked up accordingly:

1. Black wire to either outside terminal post.
2. Red wire to the remaining outside terminal post.
3. White wire to the center terminal post.
4. Green wire to the frame screw.

Also, make certain that your breaker/fuse box is wired according to local codes. If your dryer is not properly grounded through the fuse box and the green wire is attached to the frame then, a ground wire would need to attach to the green wire and then to an earth ground. This could possibly be your 5th wire, but you need to investigate it before applying power to the dryer.
