Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Hitachi 50V500A cannot be controlled by remote

My Hitachi 50V500 does not respond to the remote control anymore.  I used to have the standard remote, as well as my TiVo remote programmed to the television and now neither work.  It is not a problem with the remotes themselves, as they both controlled the TV and now neither does, even with new batteries.  Both remotes still control the other devices that they are programmed to operate, for example, the TiVo remote works fine with the TiVo box and the TV remote still controls my stereo.

Occasionally when I unplug the TV and plug it back in the remotes will control it briefly, but then stop working again.

Has anyone seen this issue?  I assume there is a problem with the infrared receiver?

same probelm - only thing that shows when I press channel selection is favorite channels and it does nothing and will not escape from this - even if pressing menu, cancel or hitting it with a ball peen hammer.
