350 CID Kodiak 5.8 L chevy marine engine has water in oil

First start up after winter. Engine started & sounded good. I closed sand trap & petcocks. After about 10 minutes idle run time I noticed temp light was on & running at 250 deg. I shut motor down and trolled back to boat ramp with trolling motor. What are the possible causes & expected repair costs of each?

Stuck thermostat bad water pump impellar about only 2 causes first check thermo should be located in the housin where all the hoses go into the motor u can check it with a pot of boiling water and a temp gaige put in water nd see what temp it opens at shop cost estimate $85.00 with part impellar estimate depending on location $200.00

Truck will not start 350 CID Engine, Chevy GM
Many of GM pickups that have 70,000 miles on the engine will not start due to low oil pressure or a bad low oil pressure switch. So before having a truck or car hauled off to the shop check your oil level. No need to pay $65.00 for shop charge plus the tow and one quart of oil. The location of the oil-sending unit is on the back of the block between the fire wall and motor. It has a three-wire connector. Buy a pressure switch so you can see what size wretch you will need to get it off with.
An easy way to know for sure is turn the key to the run position, do you here the fuel pump run? No? Then it is most likely the switch. .

I have a sand rail with a 1972 Ford 2.0 liter pinto motor. I had sitting over the winter and would start it up 2 times a month. It just started knocking. Changed oil and adjusted the lifters. No luck.
Sounds like an old engine with main bearing problems .
Unfortunately the key word hear is SAND and I also think with the tires on the back of it in the sand it would push the engine over its limits .
It dose look cool but I would keep it on a paved road I see a lot of force on a small engine sucking sand into the air system .

How do i start an engine after it is submerged under water?
Drain lower end gear oil n look for sand in oil if only water just replace gear oil! Pull carburators out and clean and replace gaskets then pull all spark plugs out and spin engine at W.O.T.(wide open trotlte) also while turning engine spray oil (fog oil for winterize)to lube crank, rods,pistons and cylinders that way when first start is 1_3_2014_2_26_08_pm.png

there are some magnets behind the flywheel to cause the battery charging system to recharge the batt. sometimes they come unbonded/loose from the flywheel and cause the engine to become hard to turn. I would start there first.

The freeze plug you replaced was due to rust or was it pushed out by freezing temperature? These plugs are not designed to protect the engine block from cracking during freezing temperatures, they are there to remove the sand from the block after casting it. I would drain your system completely and flush out the radiator thouroughly and fill with plain water, then run the engine and see if oil gets in the water, if it does and the plug was out due to freeze, then your block is probably cracked, although you could just have a head gasket leak. Oil pressure (40psi) is higher then water pressure (17psi), so getting oil in the water is always more prominent than the other way around. Flush out the system and let me know if oil returns to the water, hope this helps
