Question about Panasonic SC-HT930 System

Simple question?? how do I connect my Panasonic subwoofer to my denon receiver?

Subwoofer help. Simple question?? how do I connect my Panasonic subwoofer to my denon receiver? My receiver is a Denon AVR-487 http://www.usa.denon.com/AVR-487-OM-E.pdf (page 10) My subwoofer is Panasonic sb-wa930. http://www.fixya.com/support/p231185-panasonic_sc_ht930_system/manual-7718/page-1 long story, I recently lost my subwoofer on my home stereo system. It is going to cost more to fix it then its worth so I am looking to replace it. I have an older subwoofer that I want to use but the cables don?t seem compatible. The hookup I need seems to be just a standard RCA cable to connect the powered subwoofer to the receiver. All of my speakers connect directly to the receiver but this Panasonic subwoofer has the speaker connections there. So my dilemma is finding an adapter. Here is a link to the owners manual that shows what they are calling ?system cable? http://www.fixya.com/support/p231185-panasonic_sc_ht930_system/manual-7718/page-8 it?s a funky rectangular plug with pins like a computer cable. This cable was the only cable on the Panasonic sub that connected it to the old receiver (that I don?t have) So my question is??is there a way to connect this sub to my current receiver? The old unit is sc-ht930 The old sub is sb-wa930 Thanks in advance, Robert Poe

I had the same issue when my new sub had only an RCA type speaker terminal input, and the amps sub output was two banana clip types, same as the Denon amp has, I just bought a 4 foot male-end RCA cable, cut off one end, stripped the two wires (the inner/center most wire of the two that has the wrapping around it is the Pos+), I soldered 16 gague speaker wire to each end (the speaker wire with the white stripe I use as positve and so soldered that to the positive wire of the RCA cable), than separated each now connected wire and wrapped each one individually with electrical tape so they can't touch one anther and short out. Took an entire 4 minutes.

I have a very similar problem with the same exact Panasonic sub. I went to Best Buy and Radio Shack looking for an adapter, and they basically told me that one does not exisit. Apparently, Panasonic designed the home theater system specifcally so that it could not work if any part of the entire system was ever seperated.

Look around for a subwoofer which has speaker level inputs.

Make sure that your sub is turned on in the user menu. Also check your connections. If all checks good, you are covered under Mfg Warranty. Take it to a servicer or call Denon.

Yes, the old Panasonic SC-PT950 did drive the subwoofer by its own amp, such as it was.

It's never a good idea to adapt prescribed connectors to bare speaker wire or vice versa.

Speaker Level and Line Level signals are worlds apart and equipment damage may result. Your Denon (model unknown) probably requires a POWERED SUBWOOFER, to which it would provide Line Level LFE from its Pre Out.

Read the manual where it doesn't say to convert a speaker wire to RCA.

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

See page 9

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

Get an RCA Y-adapter to feed both INputs on the sub. Define the sub in the Denon and set your other speaker settings as required to redirect the bass/LFE if they can't handle it.

Just bought a denon, and wharfdale 9.1 speakers with no rca cables, what rca cables do i need?

What model speakers?

Didn't these things come with manuals?

Speaker connections from the Denon are typically through speaker cables (glorified lamp cord).

The Denon is not capable of driving the sub directly. The powered (?) subwoofer in your setup would presumably require an RCA cable (whatever length reaches) to feed its amplifier a bass signal from the Denon's Subwoofer Out.

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.
