Unit does not power on. I do not hear the whine that some people hear. Banging the sides does not have any effect. I am trying to find the location of the fuse. Not being familiar with electronics, I am unsure where to look. I have removed the back cover.

The fuse was blown. I bought new ones from Radio Shack, and after replacing the fuse, it blew again as soon as the power cord was plugged in. Any suggestions would be great, but I am not an electronics expert. Would appreciate knowing if it is even worth fixing at this point.

Wife heard a loud pop and now the TV will not show a picture or no sound. When you turn the TV on all you hear is a loud high voltage whine. when I pulled the plug the whine winds down. I inspected the TV and cleaned the PC board and did not notice any damaged componets.

Most repairs of Thomson products ( GE,RCA,Proscan) involve
more than one issue. Rarely will a fuse or fusible resistor of itself
solve the problem. Was the fuse blown?? Please comment on where the repair is now and what you have observed so far. I would be happy to help you further.......T.

When the fuse blows on plug-in,the STK regulator output IC
is shorted, also a diode in power supply,+ 2 bad capacitors,
a rather serious repair----may not be worth it.......T.
