As with all internet connected machines they are prone to the same virus works but not as major but most just mess your connection settings so best is to check the settings if changed simply change back as that should sort it

How to connect your Nintendo Wii to the internet

    Hello,

In this tips and tricks guide I will go over the steps you will need to take if you wish to connect your Nintendo Wii to the internet. If you want to connect wireless you will need to be within range of a wireless access point. If you wish to connect via a wired connection(Ethernet to modem or Ethernet to router) you will need a Wii LAN adapter which is sold separately.

-Power on the console and press the A button to reach the Wii menu. At the menu, use your remote to select the Wii button at the bottom left.

    g33k4u.gif

    -Now select "Wii settings"
-Now, hit the arrow on the right side of the screen to go to the next page and select "Internet"

    g33k4u.png

    -Select "Connection 1: none"
-Select "Wireless Connection" then select "Search for An Access Point"
-Select "OK" then the Wii will display all the wireless access points(wireless routers) that are in range.
-Select the wireless access point you wish to use.
-If the access point requires a security key, you will need to enter this key in. This key is set when you first configure your wireless router.
-Select "OK", then "Save Settings", and then "Yes".
At this point your Wii will now test the internet connection.

If you are using a Wired connection then you can connect the Wii directly to the router or modem and not use WiFi. Wii LAN Adapters are sold separately. If you have the LAN Adapter, follow the steps above up to the point were you select a connection type. You will select "Wired" instead of "Wireless. The Wii will now test your internet connection.

I hope this guide has helped you connect your Wii to the internet. Enjoy!

    Regards,
    G33k

How do you set up Internet on the wii?

To access the internet with your wii console you'll need either a wireless router/gateway, or a wii wired LAN connector.

    1. Power on your Wii console
    2. Access the "Wii Setting" menu by selecting the circular wii icon in the bottom left of the screen and then choosing wii settings.
    3. Use the arrow on the right of the screen to move to page two, then select "internet".
    4. Select "Connection 1 ' None"
    5. Choose "Wireless Connection" (assuming you have a wireless router), then select "Search for Access Point".
    6. Wait for your wii to scan, then select your wireless network, and if prompted enter your wireless network password/key. Then click "OK".

You should now be able to connect to the internet. If your Wii runs a connection test and it proves unsuccessful it will display an error code. If you get Error Code 51330 or 52130 this means the password you entered does not match the password on the wireless network you are attempting to join. A list of all other error codes and what they mean can be found here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/onlineErrorCodes.jsp

How do you connect the internet to the wii i have wireless in the house and it still wont connect

First, you have to go through the Internet connection setup process through the console and you've made no mention that you've attempted that so I wanted to make you aware of that. On the main menu, go to the lower left corner and click on the round Wii button. A new menu will appear with two options: Data Management and Wii Settings. Select Wii Settings. Go to the second page and choose Internet. Select Connection 1: None. Select Wireless Connection. Select Search For An Access Point. A network list will appear, select yours. You will then be prompted to enter the password/network key that you established when you set up your wireless router. The Wii will attempt to test the connection. If successful save your settings.
Second, simply because you have Wireless in the house it doesn't mean that it your wireless router has signal strength to reach the WIi. Various factors affect this including signal strength, distance from the wireless router to the console and obstacles such as walls and ceilings that interfere with the signal. If you're using a G router and you have your Wii is too far away or, has obstacles in the way, it will not connect. You should use an N-Router if there is a significant distance between the console and the router or if there are obstacles. Here is everything you need to know about connecting your Wii to the Internet.

Up until about a week ago, our wii was connecting to the internet with no problems. No when we try to connect it gives us and error code or asking if we would like to set up internet connection. I have...

Your error code indicates that your Wii can't connect via wireless to your router. I would check to make sure your router is functioning properly and to restart it if required. I would then check to make sure that the configuration on your Wii matches that of your router. I would also check to see if any other devices can connect to your router, if so, then the wireless card on your Wii may have died and is something you will likely need serviced by Nintendo.

How do i get internet on my wii console?

You need a wireless router, and an active internet connection. Contact your phone provider in case you lack an internet connection.

If you already have a wireless router, you can look on your router's instruction manual on how to get it's password, and use it to connect via your console.

Connecting your Wii to your router should be an easy task, and if you are not experienced with Networks, you could ask a friend of yours to assist you.

How to set up nintendo wii internet

  • 1 In order to set up your Nintendo Wii internet connection, you need to have high speed internet service, such as DSL, cable, or fiber optic.

If you want to use a wired connection for your Wii, you will need to purchase the Nintendo Wii Lan Adapter and a long ethernet cable to reach your router or modem. The Wii Lan adapter is available from many sources for about $30 and the cable will cost you around $10 or more. If you want to plug in your computer and Wii at the same time, you will need a router. You do not need a router if you are planning on unplugging your computer when you use Wii over the internet. Honestly, wireless routers cost about $35 and don't require a cable, so I purchased a wireless router instead. Plus, I don't want an ugly cable running across the room.

If you still want to use the Wii Lan adapter to connect to the internet, here are the steps to connect your Wii Lan adapter to your Wii game system:

Make sure your Wii game system is turned off.

Attach the Wii Lan adapter to the USB port on the back of your console.

Connect the other end to an ethernet cable that goes to your router or modem.

    Turn your console back on.

If you are using the Nintendo Wii Lan Adapter to connect to the internet, follow this step. If you are connecting to the internet via a wireless router, skip this step and go to step 3.

To connect your Wii via a wired connection:

    Go to the Wii Menu.

Click on the round Wii button on the lower left corner.

    Click Wii Settings.

Click the right arrow to go to page 2.

    Click on the Internet button.

    Click Connection Settings.

    Click Connection 3.

    Click Wired Connection.

Your Wii will do a connection test and hopefully everything will be all set. You are now finished.

To connect your Wii via a wireless connection:

    Go to the Wii Menu.

Click on the round Wii button on the lower left corner.

    Click Wii Settings.

Click the right arrow to go to page 2.

    Click on the Internet button.

    Click Connection Settings.

    Click Connection 3.

    Click Wireless Connection.

Select Search for Access Point. Click OK.

Select the access point you want to use. Click Save and OK.

You may be prompted to enter your password.

Your Wii should now be all connected.

    My internet

    Hey Jay-man11,

Try doing a powercycle on the modem and router. Pull the power on the modem, and also the wireless router. Also make sure the Wii is off. Then, plug the power back into the modem, and then the router. Turn the Wii back on, and see what that does for you.
