Why can't I download Yahoo Messenger 9.0 on my Acer Aspire One?

Sometimes the proxy setting or the firewall or even the antivirus can stop Yahoo Messenger from downloading. If you've turned off the firewall, you may want to have a look into your proxy settings or antivirus.

Get connected to the internet and go to the URL :- http://in.messenger.yahoo.com/download/ and click on download .and follow the instruction. you are all set to go.

go into the control panel and into add/remove programs. Find yahoo messenger and unstall the program from there. If you find more then one instance of the program uninstall all of them.

Reboot the computer and then after that go online and download the latest version of yahoo messenger if you decide you want it from here:

Make sure messenger is off, then go to regedit then open up HKEY CURRENT USER then open up SOFTWARE then open up MICROSOFT then open up WINDOWS then open up CURRENT VERSION then click on Internet Settings but dont open it just click on it then go half way down the list to find PROXY ENABLE,PROXY SERVER,PROXY OVERRIDE then click on PROXY ENABLE click modify binary and change from 0x00000000 (1) to 0x00000000 (0) then delete PROXY SERVER and PROXY OVERRIDE and there you go sign into messenger this has worked perfect for me hope it does for you.

- Yahoo! servers are down for maintenance, the only fix would be to wait.

- Your connection preferences are wrong:

Just got solution for this, all you need to do is go to Preferences (Ctrl+Shift+P) and then go to Connection and down below you would find Internet Connection, set it to HIGH-SPEED (T1-LAN) and click on Apply and then Ok. All you have to do now is to EXIT (dont just close it but Exit out of the Messenger) and then launch the Messenger again.
