I think it is the software checking for an update.

I also have a Samsung plasma.

Go to Menu- Support- Software Upgrade- Standby Mode Upgrade.

It is generally set frequently (mine was every 45mins) so I just changed it to 0:00 so it 'clicks' only once at midnight to do the software check.

Hope this helps.

Have a 50 Samsung plasma that has developed vertical white lines across the screen about 1 inch apart. Quality of picture is still great and unaffected. Lines have left once or twice but come back. Ca

Maybe it's time 4 a new t.v. Do you leave t.v. on a lot or play a lot games. Turn off your t.v. when not using. Is t.v. old, get a new new one. You will be you did. The newer sets have HD which make for better viewing. I suggest an LED and not a Plasma.

Samsung 50'' Plasma TV won't turn on anymore

If your tv is within the one year warranty period then call 1-800-Samsung for warranty repair. Look at your tv purchase receipt for the Purchase Date. You have one year from the date of purchase to get warranty repair.

Samsung Plasma TV - picture has 6 sections of horizontal lines

All I can say is when you watch T.V. the plasmas run off of plasma gas and when you leave something on for so long it burns in the screen. I have the same T.V. and when watching like the weather channel it leaves lines but they go away. If yours are permanent then you can't do anything, but it may help if you go on your remote and go to "menu" then look for "setup" and scroll down with the arrows on your remote. Look for "screen burn protection" and select "white screen". This will make your whole screen white and it may take out the lines. If you let it sit white it won't hurt it. All one color won't hurt, the only thing that hurts is like bright white lines in front of a dark background. Just give your T.V. a break from time to time ESPECIALLY ON VIDEO GAMES. T.V. shows that are HD usually have their channel icons that move or are very dim and they won't hurt. Just go to what I told you and let it sit about 20 minutes, if that doesn't help, then the T.V. you have i believe comes with a 2-year standard warranty and if it's under warranty take it back if you have the reciept. If no reciept then call 1-800-SAMSUNG.

Sounds like your power transformer is going bad inside the unit. Time for a repair man to visit you. Be warned, it's not going to be cheap. If you have a battery backup on your computer, try plugging the TV into that and see if it continues to shut down. If so, it's definately time for a repair man.

Samsung HD tv help

Is it a Plasma Television? I recently had a customer have the same issue with a 2 year old model Samsung 50" plasma TV. In his case one Of the computer panels failed. He didn't have a service plan and the warrenty was out, so i directed him to Samsungs help line. They inturn directed him to a authorized repair center. Repairs were roughly $800. Thats a possibility but it may not be the same as your issue. Try leaving your TV running for a little while when it has the issue, and see if it eventually goes away. Some older plasma models have started to require a warm up time for the pixel cells. This has been a down fall of plasma that for the most part no longer exists on newer models.
I hope eveything works out.

Have a great day
